Those are good, but they're only recent flicks. TReally hard to pick the "best", as there are many good ones out there --
You should check out Bogart's "Dead End" (1937); "Racket Busters" (1938); and esp. "The Roaring Twenties" (1939) with Jimmy Cagney.
Also Cagney's "The Public Enemy", (1931);
Edward G. Robinson was the original mobster in "Little Caesar" (1931).
Then there's "Murder Inc" (1960) and "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" (1967).
A different view is Jodie Foster's "Bugsy Malone" (1976), with child actors.

out of those godfather, not sure scarface is really a mob movie since it was about Cuban organized crime but I think I like Goodfellas better than Godfather!

american gangster looks great but i recently saw eastern promises and though it was really good. the end was kinda hollywood but the move it self was good.
