I've heard rumors so far about a possible trade - Jose Reyes to Minnesota for Johan Santana. What do you guys think about that?

Minnesota already said they're going to shop Santana around in the offseason.

The Mick, here's what ive come across:

Considering the New York Mets' late-season collapse, there is little doubt that general manager Omar Minaya will make a run at Twins two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana of the Minnesota Twins this winter.

Retaining Santana, who can become a free agent following the 2008 season, probably would cost the Twins $100 million over five years, or about 20 percent of their projected payroll.

I think it's funny how you guys lost a 7 game lead with 17 to go. Why would you want to trade the best shortstop in NY? LQTM

I have read that it is a good shot for the Mets to get Johan but they will not be including Reyes or Wright in the talks. The Twins want prospects and Lastings. I would not be surprised to see that happen this off season. The Twins are going to shop Johan since they know that they will not be able to resign him after next season since he has already stated he will be leaving...they will get more value from a team this offseason then they will at the deadline next year and it will only be a handful of suitable suitors. I would think that they would want to look to the NL first so they do not have to see him too much. The Mets and Dodgers would be the top two suitors for the Twins.

The title of this question says "Mets fans, what do you think". So why are there insecure Yankee fans and other Met haters answering it? Don't you guys have better things to do, like worry if your starters can get anybody out in the playoffs?

That being said, Reyes will not get traded. If Santana is coming to Queens, Gomez, Pelfrey, Humber, Milledge, etc are going the other way.

What is your source of information?

Thanks for the update. Considering the shape of the Mets pitching staff, it certainly makes sense. Glavine has to be thinking retirement specially after reaching his 300th win and more importantly his last performance on the mound. I'm a huge Tom Glavine fan but maybe his tank is finally empty.

Pedro is still a big question mark and the Mets certainly could use a blue chip lefty in the rotation. Giving up Reyes seems like a lot. I'd be more inclined to move Wright. Frankly he doesn't appear, at least to me, to be a money player. He crumbled like a clay pigeon when it counted.

I don't believe you will ever see that happen. The Twins will be looking for prospects that they can bring along and be competitive until they can't afford them either. If they can't afford to sign Santana to a long term deal how in the world would they be able to sign Reyes to a long term deal? By the way, nice to see you back on this site J-Far.

Someone said trade David Wright? You have to be kidding. However, I'm not sure I'd let go of Reyes for Santana.

that's often Jets-Mets-Islanders and Giants-Yankees-Rangers anybody's united of their disdain for the Knicks i'm for my area Giants-Mets-Rangers - I grew up as a Mets fan in Queens, and did no longer extremely persist with the different activities on the time. once I did start to video show soccer and hockey, i might moved out of manhattan and all my associates have been interior the Giants-Yankees-Rangers group. I accompanied them with the hot ones, yet there's no way i'm going to ever be a Yankees fan.

If they make that trade i will be one very pissed off met fan. I think that helps out minisotta more then them mets honestly. I think they should trade millage and pelfrey for santana not reyes. That would be the biggest mistake in franchise history

Look who's back after conveniently not being around during the Mets horrid last 2 weeks of the season. That being said Santana will not be a Met.
