If you have to answer with, "I don't know", are you really answering the question. You could at least say, "I hate cheese", or "don't have a cow".

Your question is well asked and certainly appropriate. On the net, and particularly in this format, answers should be relevant to the question, to the point but as broad as needed to give the complete answer, directive as in guiding the asker to relevant sources, and helpful at least in the form of being a piece of the puzzle.

The truth is, however, that there will always be "non-answerable" questions and "not an answer" answers due to the nature of the individuals asking and answering. The nature of the individual determines the question/answer value, we as participants are not regulators, instead just passing through the stream of life as fellow participants hoping to make a difference after all is asked and answered.

None of these would be answers, because technically, they aren't answering anything. Unless the question is 'Did you know this?' or 'Do you like cheese?' these answers are pointless and don't count because they are just, basically, nothing that will help you.

I don't like the ones who say shouldn't this be posted else where or they use it just to comment someone who does answer the question.

When an answer is answered with another question!

your statement....at least answer something irrelevant (aka I hate cheese) would still not be an answer, it would equate to babble!

an answer is not an answer when instead of being an answer it is a question trying to be an answer...see what I'm saying? kind of confusing...I hope you get my idea. :)
