No Colliseum. LOL I just don't believe all Republican are in fact Christians. For instance, I'm not. But that seems to be a constant refrain from some.

Based on exit polls from the 2006 election - about 58% plus or minus the error including "born again".

This is really a good number because it reflects actual voters. The numbers for 2004 were higher.

I doubt you will get a good poll from here and the term Evangelical is very limiting. Not all Christians categorize themselves as evangelical that are Republicans, in fact a very small portion would. Study up on you terminology before you ask a question like that. But if you are looking for a percentage of evangelical maybe 5% to 10% at extreme as an educated guess.

Mel, I doubt an accurate poll exists. How do you get a valid sampling of Evangelical Christians? How do you make a determination of what Evangelical Christians even means?
I've been active in Christian circles for many years, and involved politically. While we have a few social issues that bind us together, we have many doctrinal differences that keep us apart.
And we each possess our own minds and we each make determinations of the importance of various issues to us and vote accordingly.

I'm a Christian--It is my choice not to label myself as I do not want anyone to feel free to speak for me in the name of "X" Christians--Pat Robertson, et al. do not speak for me.

I would say the overwhelming majority of Republicans are Pseudo-Christians.
