2. "Monarchy" until Tarquin 534-510 BC. In ~ 510 BC a Roman rebellion causes the overthrow of this last king
"Republic" ~510 BC until Caesar Augustus ~ 27 BC - 14 CE.
"Empire" until 476 CE when the Western portion is said to end. At least that is when the Goths depose the last of the emperors (Romulus Augustus) in Rome.
3. As I recall you are correct that the Aeneid is about Aeneas and the Trojan War. Aeneas was a Trojan who wandered about the Mediterranean world after the fall of Troy and then came to found Rome after defeating the Latins.
