Each person in this forum has strong opinions, right, left or centrist. My question to you is this: Do you act on them? Seriously. Hopefully, most of you vote, and those who are over 18 and don't should just shut up , but other than voting? Do you actively campaign for a candidate, protest for a cause, donate money to causes/campaigns? Part of what is 'wrong' in America today is that too many people have no problem 'sharing' their opinions, but not enough willing to step up and make a difference. Your thoughts please.

I vote....as for giving money go campains...no I havent done that, but honestly I am only 23 so I havent been at this very long....right now I am still deciding who to back. My dad always told me I couldnt complain about the government unless I voted b/c then I had a say and I tend to agree w/ that...If you dont participate in our voting system then you have no right to complain......

Good Question! ☺

I spent many of my "being raised" years in Europe and, frankly, I appreciate their form of socialism a lot more than our form of capitalism.

I starred your question because it is a great one but I will not vote in the coming election unless someone else comes along worth voting for. I will not shut up either. People who do not vote because of apathy, total lack of understanding, or a who-cares attitude should shut up. Those of us who do not vote because there is no one to vote for have no reason whatsoever to shut up. Quite the contrary.

I last voted for Nader. Here is a guy who would have made a difference but too few of us want to get out of the two party system, it seems. This time around we have one great candidate: Dennis Kucinich. Unfortunately he is running as a democrat and doesn't stand a chance there. I think he could have done pretty good if he ran as either an independent or under the Green Party. Maybe next time...

As for the rest of the candidates, there is not one that will make any difference. Just look at Hillary's idea for national health care. What a joke! I liked her until she became a senator. Now we know where she stands. Nowhere really but close to the Republicans. Democrats and Republicans are basically the same. Same rich people with no intention whatsoever of really helping the poor.

There are many ways to make a difference other than voting. One of them IS talking. And when I look at my three kids who have gone to more demonstrations and rallies than their mother and I, who are very active in many different ways, who are not part of the rat race and have chosen lifestyles that are in sync with our Mother the Earth and our Father the Sky, I know that my talking is worthwhile. So please don't knock talking.

Yes I vote and send mail to all my reps real regular.
I donate time and money to what I consider Worthy causes.
As far as being informed I do tend to skip around the channels for both news and weather. I figure all news media are slanted one way or the other so if you don't like what one talking head says start turning the channel sooner or later somebody will slant it your way.
( look at Shepard Smith on FOX when OJ got busted the other week. I thought that man was going to start turning cart wheels right there on stage. I'm no fan of OJ put my god he is just one old wore out slasher not the messiah)

I also endeavored to teach my children to do the same.

I've been called unpatriotic, unAmerican and a few other choice names. I write my representatives and go to war protests. I send care packages to the troops. My nephew is in Iraq and when I send him packages, I make sure there is plenty for his friends. I practice freedom of speech which will tick off a lot of people but I think I'm pretty darn patriotic. Just because I don't support this administration doesn't make me unAmerican.
