if you think hes a top 5 caliber goalie then yes. but a top 10 maybe not. and for the clown that thinks that luongo has and never will do what he did last season just understand that that canuck team was pretty much the same team from the previous year from when he got there and he made that team a legit stanley cup contender.

For the person who commented on Luongo; you cannot base someones talent and ability solely on whether or not they have won a Stanley Cup...
Luongo is an excellent goalie; and the only reason Vancouver lost during the playoffs was their offense; the goaltending was superb but Naslund and the Sedins were next to useless once they got to the playoffs...
Rick DiPietro is over-rated... hes a decent goalie but is overpaid for his ability... I'm sure if the Islanders could go back and not sign that contract they would...

You better hope not if you're an Islanders fan because 15 years and $67 million dollars is an awful lot to pay for an overrated starting goalie.
Personally I think he's in the conversation for the NHL's 10 best goalies.

I don't think so. He has a lot of skill. I don't think anyone thinks he is the best goalie out there. It remains to be seen of he will be as good for another 14 years...doubtful.
To the guy that said Luongo is over-rated
-that's just ignorant. Luongo is at least top 3 to anyone that knows anything about hockey. You don't have to like him but recognize he is talented.

No, he is a good goalie with a contract that while scrutinized by many was actually a stroke of genius by Garth Snow. I have maintained all along that is is a good one. In 6 or 7 years, he'll be making half of what he should be.

not any more. the expectations surrounding him are not what they were a few years ago. not many would rank him too high compared to other goalies in the league. if you put him in the top 10 of goalies, than you probably overrated his abilities.

I think he'll be very successful... maybe the next Tom Barrasso or Sean Burke... not outstanading but always near the top of the leaders.
Some funny goalie news...

I always felt he was hyped up quite a bit in his earliest years. I don't think he matched the expectations I heard about him. He's good, but I think the average opinion of him now about matches his current performance, so that would mean no to over-rated.

I dont know about over rated, but you would have thought the islanders would have learned their lesson after giving Yashin such a long contract.

no he is not. This is only his 3rd full season as the #1 Goalie in the NHL. and is one of the top 5 in the NHL according to goalie ratings posted.
