well first of all confront them but don't be mean (though it might be tempting) tell them that you suspect it was them and tell them you think it's wrong and it hurt your feeling etc etc. if they admit it ask them why and work through your problems.

Well, that depends? Can the issue be brought up to the rumor starter without causing too much of a fuss? In other words, peacefully? If not, I would just let it go. Rumors are what they are, rumors....nothing more. So, if you know they aren't true and the people you care about know they aren't just go on with things. Next thing you know, a rumor about someone else will be started and yours will be long forgotten. High school never ends! lol

Felicia, personally I would approach the person who began the rumor and ask why they started it. If it is the truth then it is not a rumor whether you like it or not, then it is just gossip. But if it is an untruth then it is a rumor and nobody has the right to do this to another. Be brave and go to the source and attempt to get to the bottom of it. Best of luck.

Ignore the gossip. Don't partake in gossip when the rumor is about someone else. Learn from this. Remember those that really matter in your life won't believe teh rumor anyway.

I was in a situation, similar to this at my last job. I had typed some very personal things in my account, while it was slow and no calls were coming in...(Yes, I was fooling around on company time, whatever!). Anyway, two of my co-workers had gone into my account, while they were bored one night, and read what I accidentally forgot to delete. Needless to say, the next day, everyone knew about my personal business and one of the guys who went into my account, was being extra nice to me the next afternoon I came in, so I knew he was the one who was doing the talking as well as two other people.

I wanted to confront them, because the things I wrote were extremely personal. However, in a place of business, it's better to conduct yourself in a professional manner, while at work and address this issues off the clock, to prevent any drama in the workplace. How do you know who the persona is starting rumors? I was told from another co-worker, who also went into my account. Lol! She tried to rat out the two guys who originally went into my account, but when they told her what they read, she went into my account and read it to! Sneaky *****!

Nothing. Your actions will prove the rumor to be false. People who start rumors are petty, shallow, and try to make themselves look better. They are not worth your time and or effort............

Well, my friend is actually in this situation. She is just ignoring it and being very calm. Just set people straight let them know who is in charge tell them that didn't happen and that its a bunch of bull. I think they'll get the point then.

ignore it, the more attention it gets, the bigger it grows, the people who know you know who you are they will ask and then you can explain, It will get back to you who started it deal with them then, don't trust them. Don't forget words are just that Just Words. You know who you are
