I have listened to and read what both of these candidates have said. I support Giuliani for 2 reasons even though I like McCain. McCain has some very liberal views and often sides with the likes of Ted Kennedy. Giuliani is much more conservative in the areas of taxes, homeland security, and immigration. The second reason I support him is that he is the only Republican candidate who can defeat Hillary or Obama who I think would be disastrous for this country. If the Dems pick up Ohio, New Mexico, and Iowa, they will win. Rudy could actually pull some blue states over to red states and I don't think McCain can. That's why I support him for the nomination. If McCain is the nominee he will get my vote and full support. When a conservative looks at the alternatives, Rudy and McCain look pretty good.

I don't really believe in polls much. I believe in what John McCain has to say. Regardless if it is popular. He's real. Rudy is playing the politician role, McCain has lived it. His service record to long standing effort with the co-authored campaign finance reform bill in use now. SO his funds are also real. Not bundled up from private interest groups requiring pay backs like Mrs. Clinton. He policies of accepting donations is one thing this race is about. America demands change and experience to protect our land. Hsu and that debackle already shows you that some just refuse to pay attention to details. And I want that in a President? No thank you.

PS Above, I believe Rudy is Catholic but having some trouble there re:abortion stance.
McCain is also against Pork Barrel spending and bills. So read thru them and see why maybe each side votes against one, or for is more interesting.

McCain voted against BOTH sets of Bush tax cuts.
Giuliani's economic advisor is Steve Forbes.
So, how exactly is McCain a better choice?

I'm ultra-conservative, by the war. I personally think Giuliani's better because of his hard stance on terrorism, but that's just my opinion. McCain has had some problems financially and is going against traditional conservative views and that could be hurting him.

McCain is a rino. He hasn't really done anything that's made him look good, unlike Rudy after 9/11. Of course I don't know who would make a better president. I haven't seen any republican candidates I can really get excited by, although I'm starting to like Fred.

It is further evidence of the neo-conservative take over of the Republican party.
Until now, a thrice married, two mistress, gay rights supporter would never have been allowed to enter the race as a Republican, let alone become the front runner.
As with GW Bush, Giuliani supports huge government and military rule.

McCain is not a better choice than Rudy and that is not saying Rudy is the best choice either because he isnt. I'll take either one over any of the current democrats any day of the week though.

I think McCain has pi*sed off a lot of conservative with his McCain-Feingold Law (limits election donations and timing of political ads), his support of allowing illegal immigration, and the fact that, in most cases, he actually leans to the liberal side.

I agree. McCain is not doing well and most people attribute this to his moderate stance, and his strong backing of Bush. He is also somewhat awkward, but not as bad as Bush, and he is quite old too. Still, I think he's honest, whereas I don't trust Giuliani as much.

McCain supported amnesty...not exactly a winning stance, especially if you are a Republican.
