I never heard of a witch riding "in a broomstick" but rather "on a broomstick"...

I was under the impression they cackled while riding ON their broomsticks, not in them. A laugh and cackle is different. One must fit the stereotype of people or they won't be able to handle it.

Because they're not paying for a parking garage every month, car insurance, tires and repair bills. They think its funny because they are not stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway and they can soar above everyone else. They also laugh because they don't have to pay for round trip or one way tickets at the airport. They're laughing all the way to the bank with how much money they save every month. And they don't need a broom flying license or broom insurance.

Evil people always laugh when they think of what evil acts they have just committed and what acts they may yet commit. Mr. Burns for instance. Whichs would do the sceming finger temples thing if they could while on the broom. Take Aaron the Moor from Titus Andronicus.

Because back in ancient times they only came in hazel.
These days they come in multispeed realistically shaped "designed just for her" models that just feel "so good to fly"
what's not to laugh about?
