No, I really don't think so either. I see all kinds of questions from both sides with equal amounts of absurdity.......

I have not seen any particular bias. Like you I see both sides attacking each other like warring tribes. If questions or answers are removed it is usually because someone reported it. Now I do question whether Yahoo really pays a lot of attention to what they remove sometimes, but ultimately this is a private service and not subject to the Constitutional requirements regarding free speech. I do however disagree with you about not reporting anything. I will report harmful content in a minute. By this I mean posts such as pedophile activity because they are not really free speech and represent a real danger.

It's not a violation of freedom of speech, it's their website, they're not obligated to provide us with a forum.
But it IS misleading to claim that it's an open forum and then suspend non-lefties as soon as they hit level 3 - - - - how Brian has survived I have no clue.
The higher your level the more questions and answers you get to post - so this practice has a significant effect.
Yes there are hateful posts on both sides, and yes, Libs who post racist comments will be suspended - - - - but Cons who post BLS data refuting the class warfare rhetoric of the Left get suspended too. And if you post Koranic verses about cutting unbelievers' heads off to try to draw a connection between so-called "radical Islamic terrorism" and Islam, you're gone pronto.
That's hardly equal treatment!
I report only when it's truly dangerous - the other day someone posted something about having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend, and I reported it. Racist posts by Lefties (and it actually usually is Lefties), I DON'T report - because they show the Lefties for what they are.

I dont think YA is biased in and of itself, I think many users are and they report answers simply because they disagree with them which is nothing less than pathetic. Also, freedom of speech applies to the government not censoring or shutting down debate not to private individuals, groups or companies.

Hello. I will never report someone for having a different view than I.
I only have reported people on here for using adult content. Those folks need to be posting on a different type of website if they cannot get their point across without being graphically nasty. I realize a lot of those postings are kids playing around, but I also think YA is suppose to be a PG site and not a pornographic one. There are a lot of minors on this site who are truly here for honest advice, so I think it is our duty as adults to get the tacky, nasty comments reported.
As far as Yahoo censorship on things posted, I have seen ridiculously racist and hateful questions so I do not think they are banning questions based on key-words.
I am giving you a star for your question because it got me thinking. Thanks!

I believe it is biased. All one has to do is look at all the libs whose every answers is an insult to someone else for proof.
Yet, they are still here while any con who employs the same tactics or, is just straightforward about pointing out the fallacies involved in liberal thinking is quickly put out.
There are many, many libs here who are flat out rude and truthsfifth's post certainly matching up with my own experience.

Yahoo guidelines list many things they want to be true about answers.yahoo. I dont remember freedom of speech being one of them. For each of the things they ban, they recommend better places to take it. Such as groups.yahoo for the chatters and ranters. Or kids sites for under 13. Or adult-only sites for the cursers and people who wish to discuss illegal acts.
Its their machines. They should have all the rights they want for defining whats here. Why should they give up their rights for you?

Yahoo (even with their new reporting rules) does not involve themselves at all with TOS enforcement.
All removals are done solely on reporting....and although Yahoo claims they will review appeals, they don't.
If there is any bias by Yahoo staff, it is their bias towards spending their working hours on thehun rather than on Answers

I'm ultra conservative and have had attacks from both sides. The most vicious come from the far-left crowd. I agree with you about allowing people to speak, but I call people out all the time over their views and point out the flaws. They get really offended over it, especially the anti-war crowd and global warming alarmists.

it fairly is not Yahoo that violates you....this is we, the individuals, who checklist you. If adequate human beings flag you or provide you a thumbs down, your get entry to is immediately bumped off electronically. So, while you're offended, direct it the place it belongs; to the individuals on the communicate board. in case you stick to the community regulations, you will not get violated.

Yahoo needs to change the reporting and only allow reporting for vulgar words, people are reporting when they disagree with someone and it should not be allowed!~!
