Depends on what kind of ants. I tend to get what we call sugar ants, they are very small and seem to go after sugar or sweets. I think they enter a home looking for food source or sometimes the weather can cause them to also. Best to find out where they are coming in at and use some type of insecticide, borax seems to work for me, that they pick up and carry back to their nest or home.

One reason is because the house is a warm and cosy environment that is safe from the natural elements in outdoors such as rain and predators and there is food in the kitchen. In addition, they would like to make their homes in the cupboards and within old parquet flooring.

Why do they move into your house?? Maybe there are seals broken on your windows and they smell the sugar/food?!
Get an exterminator.

They are scavenging for food - crumbs, sugar and juice droplets, etc and sometimes for water. Just spray the window or door sill with a regular surface cleaner and they tend to keep out. make sure your surfaces are regularly cleaned as well as this will destroy their scent trails and confuse them.

ants do that because of the many kinds of foods (especially sugary things) raid works really awesome on them.

they got tired of building those darn tunnels everytime it rains in their mounds, so one ant said to the other "hey frankie, look over there, screw this tunneling crap, lets move in that house!" and then frankie told two friends and so on and so on and so on...
