Read "The Origin of Satan" by Elaine Pagels. It's well documented as to where the myth of the devil/Satan was made up.

The Devil is based on a God from a different religion entirely? I thought the Devil was part of Christianity (which actually makes Satanists a form of Christians). Honestly after 3 thousand years of people talking about the Devil we've gotten it all mixed up. Preachers expect a certain amount of intelligence out of people when they say things metaphorically and we have continued to fail in that respect. The Devil is the advesary of the Lord (long time ago I recall hearing that Satan is infact another language for opposition or some such, can't quite track that down nowdays though, interenets too big). I have a serious doubt that Lucifer, Beelzehebub, Mephisto and all those others names refer to the same Devil let alone when you start pointing at Pheonician Gods and everyone with a set of horns. The Horned God is evil cause the main opposition was the cow, those tablets with the 10 Commandments were broken on a golden cow, cows were sacrificed in Rome and worshipped in a form in almost all of Europe, bullfighting may of sprung from that. Britain and France too. So the Devil isn't based on Ba'al, people don't believe in Ba'al cause we killed the lot of them (stealing Cana from the Cananites and then those poor Carthaginians). Of course the Devil exists, he is the temptation to do evil and abuse your abilities, just as he was for Jesus in that desert where he wanted food and water.

The Devil only exists if you believe the Devil exists. The power of belief is what makes an illusion become a reality in your mind. Because evil spirits will play into those fears and create what ever Devil you wish just to break your spirit.
Evil exists regardless of the Devil. Because negative energy creates evil.

John 8:40 4 You belong on your father, the devil, and you desire to accomplish your father's desire. He became a murderer from the commencing up, no longer protecting to the fact, for there is no fact in him. while he lies, he speaks his interior reach language, for he's a liar and the daddy of lies. deception his greatest deception is making human beings think of he and God do no longer exist

The devil, like god, is a spirit, an attitude, one's motivation.
The devil, like god, is an impotent concept, a mere figment of imagination until that attitude, that spirit, that motivation becomes the motivation of a real human being. At that time "the devil" or "god", becomes "incarnate" and real.
What are you feeling now?
