It means you believe everything you hear about a given subject or from a given person and are affected enough by the information to act upon it.
Barry Bonds never took steroids. If you believe his statements on the subject and try to convince others that Barry never took steroids, you have "drank the Kool-Aid"

Maybe it's referring to Mad-Dogg 20/20.
I thought it was kool-aid once, and it was the best diet ever.

It may be refering to the cult at James Town where everyone drank Kool-Aid that was posioned and died.
