The reason I ask is because I'm running an AMD939 3800+ Dual Core processor + 2Gb Corsair XMS DDR Ram. Would the processor speed bottleneck the data rate enough not to make much of a difference between the 8600 and the 8800? Is it worth just getting the 8600 due to this? Cheers.

The difference between the two is so large, that you would definately notice a performance difference between the 8800 and the 8600. Not quite sure what the dual core has to do with it that the first guy brought up. The processor might bottleneck the 8800 on a few games, but the gain over the 8600 is still large enough that it is worth the upgrade.

customarily, SLI isn't nicely worth it once you're attempting to make 2 decrease-end enjoying cards tournament the severe end one. somebody on the hardforums crunched the numbers a on a similar time as in the past, and that i will't locate it now, yet from what I observed, i might elect the improve. it's going to fee you somewhat greater although that is probable nicely worth it. returned, i'm no longer an authority; i'm working 2 g92's in SLI yet i do no longer plan to enhance for an extremely long term. BTW, my classmate from college is an engineering at nvidia and says that the 9 sequence isn't nicely genuinely worth the fee of improve from the 8 sequence, so do no longer hassle approximately those for now. the ten sequence is meant to be loopy in spite of the shown fact that, so perhaps you may purely elect one g92 for now after which SLI a 2d one to hold you over for yet another 12 months or so earlier meting out for that.

Since its dual core it will work fine with either card. Just make sure you have a power supply that has enough watts and +12V amps to handle the new video card.
