There are "artistic" age-progressions. They are normally used when children have gone missing and it's been a few years since the incident.
They typically take aspects of one's features that are more static like eyes and possibly lips and then modify the rest of the features the simulate age.
One thing to consider is that, your body will age differently depending on how you treat it. Smokers and heavy drinker will typically age much faster than the average person.
Those with active lifestyles who have balance in work/play, diet/excercise will usually age much slower.

Hollywood makeup artists and forensic scientists have experience in how the face and body age, and can extrapolate.
