Any object that does not need to be connected to anything else with wires... I guess a banana is wireless, but that speaks for itself. It usually refers to things that once had some sort of electrical connection and not necessarily a power supply but sometimes for communication purposes.

An example of that is remote controls. The original VCR with remote had a wire connecting the two.. Pretty inconvenient, ha? A wireless mouse, printer, phone, drill.

wireless means any type of electrical or electronic operation done without the use of a wired connections. It is transference of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors. It could be a very short distance like from your remote control to the TV to very long distance communications for radio or satellite

Wireless - alternative term for radio - the original radios (cat's whisker or crystal sets) had a crystal and a wire to make contact and "tune" to the station. The "new" radios (with valves) were, therefore, wireless.
