Practically all current mobile chipsets support PCIe. And all discrete graphics card are designed for PCIe. AGP variant is just a work around in desktops. Laptops with better graphics card that have dedicated memory typically use proprietary PCIe interface. The PCIe graphics cards used are proprietary, thus you won't find any in the retail market.

SO, what you want is EASY to do on a desktop PC but next to impossible on your Thinkpad.
1. You can not find any retail video card for that.
2. It may not have the graphics slot for a laptop discrete PCIe card.

Laptops do not use PCI-Express video cards. A few high-end laptops use video modules such as the 7950M, 8600M
but most are stuck with onboard graphics.

Are you sure your laptop supports PCI-E? I think you better check and make sure your laptop supports PCI-E before you spend money on a graphics card.
