The events that happen in the physical world have an effect on its surrounding. These effects are picked up by our senses and relayed to our brain which registers the event. Brain registering an event, once again is a physical process, a change in the charge that neurons carry a new connection between neurons getting established etc. So all the external events that happen are represented / projected in our own brain, so our own brain is the source of illusion or Maaya.
For example when I started writing this piece I was completely oblivious to the gentle hum of the PC's processor fan, but if I pause and listen I can hear the hum, this doesn't mean that the fan disappeared and has come back, its only my brain was more interested in other activities.
Similarly what is behind me ? I remember that there is a bed a window and other details, I am, at this moment, not perceiving any of these through any senses but its the representation of past in my memory (brain). Now I call this maya, cos in this representation (the maya) I can put anything I want, I can put a man with a knife, my girlfriend etc, without altering anything.
One can compare this to a an image projected on a screen with a projector, the nature of image seen on the projector is dependent on the shape of the projector, if its straight it reflects the actual image if its bent the image is distorted. Another good analogy would be the curved glasses in the carnival, where your reflection looks fat, thin, elongated etc. The reality is not distorted its only the image that is distorted,
similarly events in real world happen but out perception or process of brain registering them is altered.
I believe this is nature of illusion or maya in our brain. .

The brain can't tell the difference between perception and reality, and no one perceives exactly the same as anyone else. All you can do is take a bell curve.
Even an event like, say, a traffic collision, will seem different to different people. The police know this all too well.
I once parked my vehicle up-traffic from a man sitting on the curb. I wanted to protect him from oncoming tyrtaffic.
Some concerned citizens were trying to comfort him and a nun, whose vehicle was stopped about 30' away down-traffic from the man walked toward him parallel to the sidewalk. The man looked up at her and moaned, "Oh, ma'am why did you hit me." After the injured man said that to the nun, a youngish guy parked behind me, pointed his index finger at me and yelled, "You hit him! I saw you!" The concerned citizens turned and shook their heads. I just got into my truck and drove off.
It's the last time I believed in objective observation.
That's why scientific results are not accepted until they are multiply replicated by laboratories not connected with each other.

Not everything...some things are exactly the way they appear. As far as that goes, people fall under that category as well.

No. I do think that nothing appears to be the same to everyone. My philosophy teacher use to say - "Seldom affirm, never deny, always distinguish."

A good share of the time yes, each pair of eyes etc. have
a different perception of an event. Therefore to some, in
all cases, things aren't as they seem.

Mostly....Sometimes though, things are exactly as they appear.....It is difficult to know when the things you are dealing with are as they appear.
