I don't know of any laptops that are wired to operate that way. Most laptops have a port for attaching an external monitor, but do not have the ability to act as a monitor for another PC. One option I can think of would be to link the two with an Ethernet cable (make sure you use a cross-over cable so the input and output pins are appropriately attached) and set up a small network between the two. Then you could use Remote Desktop Assistance to view the desktop from the Laptop.

I agree with P.I. Joe advice that a small network would give you what you want, but with the two computers so close in location what would be your point of needing them locked into each other? If you want to transfer files, folders, programs and software from one to the other you will need even more wires and they will be different than the ones you used a minute ago to attach the two together, sorry to said. Have fun..

You would need a video in port on your laptop for this to work. The regular 15 Pin VGA connector will not work this way. You can buy a TV Tuner/ Video capture device that will do this. I would suggest you just go out and buy a monitor for your PC though. Here is a link to a TV tuner:

No. Laptops have VGA *out* and TV *out* usually. Not video IN.
If you want to control your desktop from your laptop look at Remote Desktop or VNC.
Additional to Boscowood:
Don't answer questions if you haven't got a clue what you are talking about. Perhaps you could show us a URL with some laptop graphics "video splitter" card that would accept a VGA input from his desktop and show it on his laptop LCD screen? Hmmm.... I thought not.

You will not, the laptop only have a video OUT connection. It is not made to receive video. You can hook your laptop to your desktop monitor, and then use your laptop with 2 screens.

Hi. You would need a video input on the laptop. A very unusual thing to find.
