I'm completely new to renting apartments and I was wondering if it is possible to being the lease in the middle of the month or do you have to wait till the first day of the coming month? And if it is possible, how often is it done and will I still have to pay for the enitre month or just half?

I live in a college town so things may be a little different here. Students skip out all the time plus landlords get desperate to rent. So yes, in my town, you can rent in the middle of the month. Some landlords will adjust the rent to pay for only the days you live there but some landlords will give you those first couple of weeks free if you negotiate it and they're desperate.
I don't see any reason a landlord would NOT let you begin your lease in the middle of the month if the place is vacant.

You can start a lease at any time. If the lessor insists on having payments due on a specific date, such as the first or last day of the month, the rent for the fraction of the first month is prorated. For example, if you rent a place on June 10 for $600 a month and the lease calls for rent payments on the first day of each month, you would pay $400 for the remaining 20 days in June. In most cases, however, the lease would simply specify payments due on the 10th day of each month.

As a landlord, if I have an apartment ready to be rented and it's the middle of the month, I'll pro-rate meaning you only pay for the days you are there in the first month plus the full security. Other landlords will make you wait until the first day of the month.

yes you can rent in the middle of the month, they just charge you for the days you are actually in the apartment. So if you move in on the 15th, they charge you from the 15th til the end of the month and then the full charge will begin on the 1st of the next month. Everyone at the apartment complex has the rent due at the same time to avoid confusion.

Yes, you can move in in the middle of a month. Your rent will be prorated for the days between when you signed your lease and the end of the month. From then on your rent will be from the 1st to the end of the month.

Ive never had to wait until the beginning of the month, I just moved into a townhouse and we moved in the middle of the month. They just prorate your first months rent then the second month is when you pay the full amount.

Usually it's possible, and the rent is pro-rated based on the days you'll actually be living there. When I first moved to Fla, I moved in on the 13th of the month, and they adjusted the rent accordingly.
