jon m,
One thing. The Gamecock's defense scored twice. But let's not forget the touchdown that the tightend lost at the goal line and the ball went through the endzone for a touchback. So 7 lost right there(6) with an extra point. Kentucky is a good team, good offense that can put up a lot of points WHEN they play a team of lesser caliber. South Carolina has a great head coach in Spurrier, they don't have great talent, Spurrier just gets the most out of each and every one of them. Kentucky isn't a top 25 team. Plain and simple.
Now for the question,
What happened as I stated in my comment to jon m, is Kentucky isn't a top 25 team and South Carolina is, that pretty much sums it up. South Carolina still has to play UF, so the East is still up in the air.

Last night South Carolina's defense (led by Eric Norwood - how much of a beast is that guy) forced Andre Woodson to play an incredibly sloppy game. Spurrier did something that no one else has done this season, and that is put pressure on Woodson. To be honest, even though they were unbeaten, Kentucky really did not deserve the top 10 ranking. Their defense cannot hold up against a good offense, which they have proven all season. Kentucky will lose their next two games against Florida and LSU and then should be able to bounce back. I can see UK going 9-3 this season and should get a bid for a New Year's Day bowl.

Well I thought before the game, if Woodson could produce the Heisman caliber performance everyone has talked about, the Wildcats would win. He didn't. He had three turnovers last night, two of which were returned by South Carolina for touchdowns. Without Woodson, Kentucky is just Kentucky. He can't have a bad night or Kentucky loses, because Kentucky doesn't have a defense good enough to win if their offense can't score 40+ points. You take away those 14 points scored by the gamecocks on defense, and a performance by Woodson to match all of his hype and potential, and the Wildcats win relatively comfortably. But, the Gamecocks did, Woodson didn't, and Kentucky didn't. Bad night for Woodson to have a bad night.

I picked Kentucky to go 8-4 for the year, a vast improvement over recent seasons.....they are right on track and could easily reach that record and a decent bowl game. I expect them to lose to LSU and Florida the next two weeks and them bounce back and win all the remaining games except Georgia.
I picked SC to go 10-2 on the season and win the SEC east. They are also on track to meet that prediction.
I really thought the game last night would b a coin toss at the end, but the cats dug themselves a hole at the beginning of the game and had to play catch up all night. Both are good teams and will be in bowl games.

It is a case of a contender versus a pretender, and the Wildcats fans can now gear up for the college hoops season.

Square up this UK loss on turnovers. SC defense outscored the offense. The UK QB should take last nights game as a lesson.... he needs some hand strength
