I really would try to not have to clean your screen every day.

You can by commercial wipes meant for cleaning screens. Wipes, cloths and sprays meant for cleaning coated eye glasses work too.

Never use paper towels, they are abrasive. Use a soft cotton or microfiber cloth. Dampened with water, or a mild soap solution. Never use dish detergent, that too is abrasive.

Iso-propyl alcohol is also safe on screens, although I would always try the soap solution first. But make sure that it is a pure alcohol/water mix. Windex, etc. contain other chemicals that can attach the plastic of the screen and bezel.

You can touch the screen if you really need to, but the less you touch it the less it needs to be cleaned. When you touch a LCD panel you may get some local brightness or colour distortion - this is O.K. it will fade after you remove your finger, unless you push really hard.

TFTs monitors are brighter, sharper, have no geometry issues, are smaller, come in widescreen formats, have no flicker issues and consume less power.

CRTs have better colour reproduction, deal with different resolutions better, have better gray scale linearity and colour reproduction and are cheaper.

Here you go.

Clean a TFT Monitor

To clean a TFT screen properly, it is important to remember you are dealing with plastic, not glass. Traditional glass cleaners usually contain alcohol or ammonia, which is harmless on glass but detrimental to plastic. Never use household glass cleaners to clean a TFT monitor, since the ammonia or alcohol will eventually cause the plastic to turn yellow and degrade. Instead, many experts suggest using clean water and a lint-free microfiber cloth designed for cleaning optics. A small amount of a weak acid such as vinegar could be added to the water if the TFT monitor is heavily contaminated with surface dirt or other substances. The cloth should only be slightly damp, and wiping should be in a vertical/horizontal direction. A dry cloth should be used to remove any trace of moisture. Use a very light touch, and only clean a TFT monitor when the power has been turned off.

Yes be careful with TFD screens. Do not touch the screens with your fingers. The underlying transistors will react to the static electricity in your fingers, or may get damaged by the pressure thus exerted. This will eventually produce dead pixels; tiny, inoperative, or colored dots impairing picture quality. You Better Not Touch Do not spray a liquid cleanser directly onto your screen. Advanced flat-screens have a highly sensitive protective coating. Cleaning may impair or even penetrate this thin coating, and drip via the glass surface into the device itself causing irreparable damage.

Hi. The Humble One's answer is great. Do not clean every day though. Only when needed. (A speck of dirt is MUCH less annoying than a scratch)
