When we made our product in LA, I was a production supervisor (thank God, I moved to automation software development). I could not get across to the hourly workers that the customer does not want to see crooked overlays, finger prints on displays, and upside down , or damaged labels.

The opertation is now in China, and Singapore. All the engineers, and supervisors speak perfect English. They have drawings and even photographs to work from.

The Asian workers can't understand that the customer does not want to see fingerprints on displays, missing labels, upside down connectors, loose parts rattling inside, and overdue deliverys. All this stuff has to be reworked locally. They also have to constantly train new workers because of the high turnover, in Asia!

The only one making money is Fed Ex! Some savings!

BTW: They have all the same bad habits as the "lazy Americans".

I can see your not a bean counter, it all comes down to the bottom line, the company saves in wages, insurance tax structure.
Even with your local rework cost the companies bottom line, profit / loss statement will show a gross profit gain.
good luck,

You are right ---there's not much value to outsourcing
in specific fields such as yours --

The real saving is in fields like Telecommunications that employ thousands of workers
who do not require a whole lot of experience and the
work is not so sophisticated---training girls mostly at high school level is sufficient---and they work for peanuts---
believe me ---my stepdaughter with 2 yrs.experience
makes about $200.00/month so go figure ! This is
in the Philippines

many years ago the Government in Ireland where my
grandparents came from started training their young
people with Computer Programming and such while
our American youth was learning to Hip/Hop and Rap !

Guess who does most of the Stats for our Insurance and
other Companies these days---

Of course we offer great opportunities and money for
our young folks---
In places like Iraq !

My job was outsource to some small island in the middle of nowhere.
