When we made our product in LA, I was a production supervisor (thank God, I moved to automation software development). I could not get across to the hourly workers that the customer does not want to see crooked overlays, finger prints on displays, and upside down , or damaged labels.
The opertation is now in China, and Singapore. All the engineers, and supervisors speak perfect English. They have drawings and even photographs to work from.
The Asian workers can't understand that the customer does not want to see fingerprints on displays, missing labels, upside down connectors, loose parts rattling inside, and overdue deliverys. All this stuff has to be reworked locally. They also have to constantly train new workers because of the high turnover, in Asia!
The only one making money is Fed Ex! Some savings!
BTW: They have all the same bad habits as the "lazy Americans".
