All the TV specials (Dateline, 20/20, etc.) that I've seen have shown couples who meet these women online. It is usually through adoption forums or chat rooms, and unfortunately, sometimes these childless couples get scammed out of thousands of dollars.

My friend gave her baby up for adoption.
I believe she found them through the internet.
They were there for her through everything... even the birth, and now they have a very happy and healthy open adoption.
