Space has a vaccum(no air or atmosphere.). However that does not mean its empty. If space was empty there would be no gravity ,no motion ,no masses structure permeating the Universe.
Space can contain gases and dust. stars and planet. However in order to smell them a Human nose is needed.
Since we cannot breath is pace ,the Human nose is useless in space.
Therefore if we are to detect any odor of gases is space ,instruments are needed to determine what gases and dust exists in certain volumes of space.

It has been postulated that the sense of smell of the Human nose is only good on Earth; hence Biological life was scientifically designed to live on earth only.

Space by definition is really the distance between two points.

So the Word space is a misnomer. The former Aether definition was more appropriate to define the substance which permeates the Universe which presently is believed to consist of Dark matter.

Nothing at all, because by definition, space is devoid of those molecules that make up smells!
But apparently the Moon smells of damp fireworks! When the Apollo astronauts returned to the LM for moonwalks, a lot of the regolith stuck to their boots and suits, and it smelled strongly of gunpowder!

Actually it smells of very low pressure hydrogen. Since hydrogen has no smell, then space smells of nothing, or all the air rushing out of your lungs.
