Try not to freak out, it's probably not very serious if she's acting normal. You're doing the right thing by taking her to the doctor to check it out. The only serious thing I'm aware of that causes a red ring is a tick bite, but with baby skin, it might not take anything that serious to cause inflammation.
Incidentally, it doesn't sound like ringworm, which is caused by the athlete's foot fungus, and usually grows in moist areas. That would appear as a flaky red ring, usually with nothing in the middle.

It could still be a mosquito bite, I have an allergic reaction to mosquito's and they get swollen and bigger than when I was first bitten and also get a red ring around them.
Ringworm can look like this also, but with ring worm it is flat skin in the centre of the ring (it doesn't have to be a perfect circle just that it is a complete one) and the skin is usually a little yellow and the ring itself is made up of tiny little rings next to each other kind of like a chain, it should be visible if you get close. You can take her to a pharmacy and ask the chemist what they think it is. If it is ringworm all you need is an antifungal cream for sensitive skin. If it is a bite you may need nothing or an antihistamine, but that is unlikely because your baby is probably too young.
Your Doc will clear it up and your baby will be fine.
Good luck

Baby's skin at that age is very sensitive, so it could be the mosquito bite or just sensitivity in that area to something she came into contact with. It could also be ringworm...if it is this, she would have gotten this from direct contact with another person or animal with ringworm. You can also get it from contact w/soil, but that is rare. Another thing to consider is a bite from a tick w/Lyme which can cause a "bullseye" mark on the site of the bite. However, since your daughter does not play outside & you don't have any pets, it's probably not this either. Good luck at the doctor!

Anytime I have ever had a bite that has a ring around it (it generally looks like a bullseye) and it was a spider bite. It could be some kind of allergic reaction to a mosquito bite.. but I say good for you on taking her to the doc.

many things it could be, could be as simple as a mosquito. my daughter was hypersensitive to any bug bite. after she got a few bites she would go into a full body reaction. the one morning her eyes were swollen shut, all from a couple of mosquito bites. it could be a small spider as well. ringworm might be an option but it is usually not on the face, my daughter had that also but it was on her head, in her hair. wait till you see the dr as they can actually see it as we on here cannot. try not to worry, kids will get many things along the way and most of them are minor.

Mosquito bites , if scratched at alot, have a tendencie to erupt into inpetigo. But this usually happens in older children that cant refrain fron touching the area.If it were ring worm, it would not be just one spot. Im guessing its just a reaction due to her sensitive baby skin. Encephelitis also comes from mosquitos. (not to scare you), but your dr, is the best bet. Good luck.

Could it be ring worm?
Noah has a bite on his arm, also most likely a mosquito...it's huge and has not healed yet either. I tend to welt up when mosquito's bite me too. So, maybe we are just more sensitive.

I would not be too concerned about it, actually. I bet it is just an irritated mosquito bite. And since the doctor is coming today, and she isn't showing any symtoms (is she? these are throat swelling, unhappiness, etc;) I would not worry about it. Best of luck!

I've seen many children who react way worse than adults to bug bites! Don't panic, it's probablly nothing, just wait and see what the doc says!
