every since my daughter has been born I have given her breatmilk AND formula. She's used to both of them. Well now that she's 3 months old i want to go to straight formula.

SHE IS NOT HAVING THAT she will cry like she's dying and won't drink her bottle unless she has breastmilk. (it's the same formula that she's been having since she was born too)

what are some helpful tips to wean her off?

Plus i'm taking Alli diet pills so I can't feed her breastmilk and It kills me to hear her cry when she doesn't get it! HELP!

weaning is a long and slow process. you can't just abruptly refuse giving her breastmilk otherwise she will have some sort of feeding anxiety and will ask for even more breastmilk.

you could start by reducing the number of breastmilk feeding until shes on straight formula without her having noticed it.

you don't need diet pills if you're breastfeeding. easy weight loss is actually one of the benefits of breastfeeding.

i have been exclusively breastfeeding my son and at 5 months, i was back to my pre-pregnancy jeans

If you were a baby would you like being cuddled and touching warm soft skin and smelling your favourite person in the whole wide world, or some strange rubbery thing shoved in your mouth?? Not picking on you it is just the baby's perspective, lol. She has obviously decided that "down with bottles" and "up with boobies", lol.
Unless there is another reason for you to take the diet pills (work etc) wait until she is closer to 10-12 months it will be a little easier. Or no more boob and if someone else can do the feedings until your milk has dried up so your daughter doesn't associate you with food anymore. Don't shoot the messenger, lol.
Good luck, it is very hard when they make up their minds from an early age and they want what they want Dammit!!, lol

Try having someone else feed her. She associates you with breastfeeding, so thats what she wants from you. Or try to feed her when she's a little sleepy so she won't realize she's not getting the breast. But don't let anyone bully you into breastfeeding, its a personal choice. I've been breastfeeding for 9 months so far and haven't lost anything. Some women just don't lose weight while breastfeeding. Good luck. Eventually you would have had to wean anyway, so it's either dealing with this now or later.

I know this sounds crazy, but it really helped when I was weaning my 7 littles ones. I dont think its the breast milk the baby is missing, its the closeness of it. Try holding her in the same position as you would if you were feeding her, and use a pacifier instead. Acually have her whole face and body turned in towards you, and the breast.Of course theres no need to acually expose the breast, just simulate the positon.Do this as long as she will tolerate, and then try the bottle. Do it right before each feeding. Hope it helps you as it did me.

It may be a good idea to offer her a formula bottle with breast milk on the teat, this is to fool her into thinking that she is getting your milk.
If this doesn't work, you could always try mixing the two and gradually reducing the amount of breast milk until it's nothing.
Always check with the health visitor/medical practoitioner if this is the right course of action that'll benefit both you and your child.

You're either going to have to just put up with her crying, and keep offering her the bottle, or stop the pills and just breast feed.

Breast feeding works better than diet pills any way. And its far better for her. Formula is dead. Breast milk is alive with antibodies, immunities, white blood cells, and all sorts of things. I think she's smart to prefer it.

I can understand wanting to lose weight after having a child, but it was my experience when breastfeeding that I lost weight quickly by watching what I eat along with the nursing. I recommend that you stop taking the pills and feed her. This will also give her your anitbodies if you become sick she is much less likely to become ill.

Weening from breast milk usually takes 3days...so, hang in there. As for her bottle, try having someone else (dad) feed it to her. Often, this will work.
