What was the best way you found to memorise all the information thrown at you in Human Biology?

I teach Anatomy & Physiology, and I remember studying it in college.... some tips are....
1. Repeat Repeat Repeat - my students hate that I can get repetitive in their lessons, but they know it at the end! The more you see it, write it, draw it, or speak it, the better you will know it.
2. Color for your anatomy. yes, color. There are anatomy coloring books out there that can get very detailed. Your brain likes associations; associating anatomy with colors helps. Now, don't just randomly color a muscle, for example. When you locate the muscle you need and are coloring it, you need to repeat what muscle it is and it's function while you color it in.
3. Teach it to someone else. I know lots more now that I am teaching then I ever learned in college. If you teach someone about what you are learning, you have to be familiar with the details of the concept, so you are confirming them in your mind.

Hope this helps. Good luck in the class!

I'd say a combination of two things: studying and association. I worked my way to a degree in Biology by making associations. I didn't focus on memorizing *what* happened but figured out *how* it happened. Since everything in biology is interconnected, I also studied how Process A affects Process B. That way, everything fits together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Not only does it make it more interesting, you also get a better idea of just how complex humans (or any life in general) really is, and you walk away with a better understanding of *why* the body works the way it does.

Of course, there are still some things that you have to buckle down and memorize (amino acid structures come to mind). Just don't rely on memorization for everything.

Good luck! :)

Ok, my degree is in Biology so I know EXACTLY how tough Biology, Anatomy, Physiology etc can be. The absolute best way to memorize the information (and more importantly actually understand it) is through the use of conecpt maps.
These breakdown the key components of what you are studying into a nice organized "map" and makes the material MUCH easier to learn. I hope this helps and wish you the best.

Coming from trying to adopt a baby in West Africa, I know this much, You have to be in very good health, you need to be eligible to apply for a visa and that means you need a sponsor. I would be my baby's sponsor. They must prove they can support you. You must prove you can support yourself. You need to have a skill that is in demand - specialized engineers, multilingual translators with a degree, foreign relations expert. If you marry and it does not work out, you leave and then the next time its not as easy. You need to start with an embassy. You should get a visitor's visa or student visa. Its not just like packing your bags and moving. Its not just having a house and job. Who are you? Do you want to run from bus to train to train to train to bus and last minute to work? Can you drive in mountains with snow? Are you okay with Tornados? Earthquakes? Hurricaines? Would you like to sit on a front porch and put up your feet and relax (but your house is about to be condemned) or Do you want to live the good like, Penthouse, All the best things, but your home an hour a day? Do you mind being shot at? Or having the old lady next door call the police everytime you microwave a pizza because your TOO LOUD?? I am only saying the US is as diverse as it is big. Nothing is like home. Either you live in one place and complain or you move around all the time and complain. Either way you need a nitch. So before you go studying the constitution that most Americans only know a few amendments of, make sure you won't go through soo much only to live out your days bitter.

im working on degree number 3, this one (nursing) being the most science related one,and therefor i havent taken science since 2001. i find that for classes like A&P grouping and using any visuals you can get your hands on helps immensely. for classes like microbiology, rewriting my notes is the only thing that helps me organize so much info. it helps to make things like flow charts and diagrams, and remember dumb little tricks, even if they only make sense to you. for example, i remember the difference between staphylococcus and streptococcus because a staph is like a long rod, which initially would have made me think of the shape a chain of bacillus makes. however, its the opposite so once i made that mental note, i didnt confuse them...course my method might confuse soemone else.

when you study, organize the information in a way similar to a story.

so when you want to memorize them it will be easy..

try making a story for each part :)
