3 reasons for the Fall of the Roman Empire:
Social- The citizens had no morals and they didn't care about the rest of the country, just what happened to themselves. (NO! Not the Americans!)
Economic- The Empire was drowning in debt, trying to support wars and their Army. (America is not billions of dollars in debt...)
Political- Political leaders were self-seeking and greedy. They wanted their way, or the highway. (That's DEFINATLY not the American leaders!!!)
If America doesn't start doing something now, aren't we going to fall just like the Roman empire did? Thoughts, please?

If you look at the mojority of Americans, you CANNOT deny that we have lost morals. Now, I hold my morals very close, but I'm going by the majority. I'm not saying that ALL romans were like that, just most of them. I mean, turn on the T.V. and you see a sex scene at least once, along with a murder sence, drug use, swearing, and just plain rudeness and mean-ness (that's a word right?).
And yes, I was using sarcasim in the details of the question.

I'm not Anti-America, I love my country. But just like I point out to my brother what he's doing, I'll point out to America. That doesn't mean I'm Anti-Brother, just trying to help him.

And the Roman empire did not create enimies. In Fact, after they captured a country, the people usually lived in peace with the Romans and enjoyed their government.

We've also stretched our military too thin, just like the Romans did. There are American troops all over the world, in something like 120 different countries.
At this point I'm not sure if anything can change our course towards the fall of this country. We'd have to elect people who know how to follow the Constitution and actually will follow the Constitution, rather than manipulating it to meet their own agendas.

I think that the parrals a scary. Rome was rotted from the inside long before the final collapse. America has been rotting for a long time. Our values has been trumpted by what the religious right says is right and finally for those that say we are not an empire, what exactly was the different from what Rome did the country that we now call England to what we have done to Vietnam and the Middle East (besides losing or have already lost). I am sure that if you go to other countries either than America, people will call us an Empire.

There is no comparison. The US is not an empire. Romans conquered people and created enemies every where the conquered.
Rome ruled for over 1000 years. The US lead in the world is only about 60 years old.
Many Americans are moral and righteous
The US has the strongest economy in the world. It will continue to grow and get better.
As for politics, some things never change or get better. What you say about politics is true, no matter the country or the date in history.
Try thinking positive. The US is the best country in the world. Enjoy it.

Of course. Democracies don't last long because of greed. The US only has a few good years left. We might as well enjoy them while we can. We'll be forced to become just like the rest of Europe soon, I'm afraid. And, yes, for the same reasons, debt, greed, self-serving, self-centered public servants, etc. Sad but true.

Well I can't say you'd be the first person to draw that parallel.
I suppose it's worth noting that the Roman Empire lasted over four hundred years. And the Roman Republic lasted a good five hundred years before that.
So maybe it's not something we need to figure out right this minute.

I agree. But I think the fall will be a lot quick than one experienced by the Roman Empire. And Bush has increased the national debt by about 4.5 trillion, mostly to pay for the wars and his bureaucratic expansion of the federal government.

Our Senate and Congress act as if we are to worship them and they do as they please while selling American interests out, The only thing missing is an American Version of the Emperor Caligula.....Christians being persecuted, social and moral decline, high taxes there are parallels.

It'll happen anyway. All empires degrade eventually. Because everything is happening much quicker today due to modern technology the American collapse will be much faster than the Romans and faster than the British Empire. All three had much the same problems.
