No, it really depends on situation to situation. A hurtful word like she's ugly. If the person doesn't hear it won't hurt her. But a false gossip like cheating on her husband. If she didn't hear it and therefore failed to correct that rumor may result to divorce.
In a project, if the employee doesn't know that the project given to her many have failed may affect how she sees the project. If she didn't know she might positively work hard and may succeed doing it despite the fact many failed there. But a project designed to fail from the beginning to terminate the person. If the employee doesn't know that may work hard and didn't even bother start polishing his/her resume. And since the project is designed to fail, all his/her effort won't help him/her. If somehow he/she accomplishes it. He/she would unknowingly insult the designer of the sabotaged project. Either way looses.
This is just some scenarios where ignorance may or may not hurt a person. It really depends on situation to situation, person to person. etc.

nope, think about it. If you come across a patch of mushrooms, and you're awefull hungry. You don't know if these mushrooms are the poisonous kind or not, but you know you are hungry, so you eat them. Do you really think the poison is going to turn inert because you weren't aware they were poison?

Absolutely not!
For example:
If your partner was having indiscriminate unprotected sex, you would be in danger of contracting an STD.

Better to know and bear the pain!

Nope. It's often what we don't know that hurts us.

(From a cheating partner to a car that's about to run a red light.)

If there is truth (and I believe there is) and someone is not aware of this, then that person is missing out on why they are here on earth and everything else that matters.

So I definitely don't agree!
