There is factual truth, such as: water is necessary for life.
There is spiritual truth, such as: Water is necessary for Life.

There are stories which while they have NO basis in historical fact, nonetheless express truth about the human condition, such as: most fairy tales which historically could not have happened but still give a valid moral lesson about being good and kind and caring getting you more in the end than being nasty, cruel and wicked.

Most of Genesis is without historical or factual truth. All the great Bibles stories you got as a kid, Adam & Eve, Noah, Cain & Abel, etc. probably haven't got a grain of historicity about them. Yet they are among the greatest spiritual truths we know.

Hope this helped.

This kind of notion would work a lot better if you'd just say "spiritually inspiring". When you use the word "true" to refer to something that is false, you get into all sorts of troubles.

This is one of the biggest beefs I have with religion and spirituality: they both tend to try to reduce "truth" to a matter of personal preference or tradition or doctrinal purity. The difference between truth and falsehood matters, no matter what your religion tells you.

well i guess i guess the stories must be spiritually possible..in truth../or to be connected to the truth to learning a truth of life..a good thing..

i preffer the stories conceived on a model from reality

but totally true..i don't think is possible...and anyway..a farytale e.g. means something new..brings something new..never heard before..that is why they are lovely..then
even Jesus has spoken in parables..
there are no seeds put on the street , aren't they?they all are put on land..

Stories are just that...stories. Falsehoods. Religion is full of them, and they are passed off as truth even when religious leaders know they are not true. If it is not true, then it is false. The religious folk love "feel good" stories and don't care if they are true or not, but have killed people in the past and in religious wars if you don't believe them.

Excuse me if I do not wish to participate in your fantasy life.

no... but since many people who claim to be spiritual have a warped definition of "truth," it is better to phrase "spiritually true" in other terms.

I agree with Paul S.
Spirituality is very well, but if you manipulate truth just for your religious agenda, then you are placing yourself in a dangerous position, open to distortions of any kind.

if you can find someone to believe it spiritually to be true, the distinction is irrelevant.
