I caught the tail end of it on the radio yesterday. Someone fill me in. I cannot understand why someone running for the highest office in this country would not want to display a symbol of his allegiance...........

EdIT: I guess what really bothers me is that Obama wore the flag for quite sometime. Just seems strange to me. Isn't there more to this?

As a Navy vet,Commander of an American Legion Post, life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars,I find it a little disturbing that a candidate for the presidency and commander in chief, would use the American flag, even though it is a lapel pin,to make a political statement.
It would appear to me,that Obama does not understand that the flag is only a symbol of the values that define America.Nor does he respect the sacrifice of those Americans who have given their lives to protect and uphold those same values.
As a veteran, when I see the flag flying over a national cemetery,a national war memorial,a U.S.Navy ship, and any other location that "brings it home for me" I still tend to tear-up at the remembrance of those who died and gave me the opportunities that I enjoy today.
This is a great country in which we enjoy freedom of speech and expression;there is a better way to make a point than using a symbol so dear to many Americans.

This issue or non-issue is being overblown by both sides.

As a God fearing, flag loving, terrorist hating Navy veteran I have never consciously worn an American flag except on my cruise jacket. I also have a small flag on my car but that's it.

I have always found people with "in your face" patriotism just as phony and annoying as the misguided & hateful liberals we see everyday on the news and in the movies.

Respectfully displaying the flag, saying the Pledge, saluting, and respecting others viewpoints is the hallmark of not only conservatives but traditionally all Americans as well.

The Left's penchant for intolerance and disrespect over the past few years has led many on the Right who would normally be subdued to start speaking out. Sadly, the rhetoric from my side of the isle is getting to sound almost (but not quite) as ignorant as the Libs.

We really need to ignore Ubama's lack of a lapel pin. Let the media just mention it but don't anyone question it because it then gives him the justification to attack traditional patriotism and allows the Left to say "we need to redefine what a patriot is."

The only times we should react loudly is when our flag and our honor is being openly disrespected or attacked. This is why I support the action of the guy who cut down the Mexican flag flying over our nation's flag. I wouldn't have said all the stuff he said except, "I'm sick and tired of America being disrespected and trashed by those who benefit from the protection this flag gives and I'm sick of seeing people sit at home and not defend our honor."

So let Oobama give his little display. How we react is much more important.

Barack Obama wants this nation to be the "Unites States of Obama".
He doesn't like America the way it is.
He doesn't like the general population as it is.
He just doesn't like America.
What he WANTS is another issue and THAT is something I don't want.
I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the principles of our Founding Fathers. Obviously, he doesn't.
If he Doesn't, then how can he take the Oath of Office?

I wonder how many people have considered just what the heck are we gonna do if one of these leftists were to win the presidency ???

With the rights that they will remove from us , just how much 'say-so' will we have anymore ?

I sit here in silent awe and bewilderment . I wonder how many others consider this stark possibility .

The fact that Obama outright refused to wear the flag-pin is highly different than just omitting it without citing specific reasons . But Nooooo , he made damn sure he told us why and did it in a calculated way in order to promote others to follow his lead .

The Lord said that in the Endtimes the world would be in a 'State of Confusion'. . . . . Welcome to that 'State' !

I'm glad he doesn't wear it and I'm glad he told us exactly why. He doesn't deserve to desecrate the symbol of this Great Country by having it touch his slimy person. I am grateful to him for blatantly exposing himself for the America-hating anti-patriot he so proudly displays himself as. I just wish the other Democrats would be so courteous as to show their true colors. He has made it obvious that he does not want to be president because of his love of our Great Country and its citizens. He is merely power-hungry and wants to rebuild America in his own image.

And I'm glad he didn't swear in on the Bible. He doesn't deserve to touch that either.

I would think as a political candidate, he would want to attact as many voters as possible. So, my only thought is he may be pandering to the left wing of the Democrat party that hates American and our military.

He is ashamed to be American
What do you expect. At least he's out of the closet with his hate for the USA. Unlike the other Socialist Dem's that make believe they love America only want to turn it into Cuba
