As I walked across the lawn at twilight, I observed two aliens from the planet Xenon exiting their flying saucer.

The first part before the comma is the dependent clause because it cannot stand alone as a sentence.

The second part after the comma is the independent clause because it can stand alone.

"I" is the subject of both clauses.

The part about the aliens is the predicate.

I'm afaid I don't know what you mean by simple or complex subject or predicate. That isn't the way grammar was taught in my day!

Twilight is the time before sunrise or after sunset when sunlight scattered in the upper atmosphere illuminates the lower atmosphere and the surface of the Earth is between light and dark and the term has led to sub-definitions, such as civil twilight, nautical twilight and astronomical twilight.
