According to published timetables from 2 airlines serving this route, MyTravel is scheduled Gatwick departure 10:55 with arrival Sanford 15:40, so 9 hours and 45 minutes scheduled flight time *to* Sanford. According to TravelCityDirect, departure Gatwick 12:00 noon with 16:15 arrival to Sanford, so 9 hours and 15 minutes scheduled flight time. Return to England takes less time due to the gulfstream and strength of tailwinds during your flight. Likewise, the same gulstream winds can vary and therefore increase flight time headed from the UK to North America.

Assuming you mean Sanford Orlando, if you can get a direct flight then it is just over 9 hours (Virgin I think). Many routes are indirect and the trip therefore takes 12, 13 hrs or even a bit more. Reykavik in Iceland is a common connection airport for Sandford from the UK.

Edit - it is common for Eastbound flights to take less time ie Forida to UK, because they come a different route and can ride the atalantic jetstream, Westbound direct flights take the great circle route but there can still be a variation cauded by head or tail winds.

Why don't you just ask a travel agent? They will be able to tell you how long direct scheduled flights are scheduled to take.
