Basic pasta prep:
In a large stock pot, combine up to a gallon of water, 3-4 tablespoons of salt, 2-3 tablespoons of oil (optional, I use olive or canola), 1 clove garlic (minced, optional). Bring to a boil over high heat. Carefully put pasta into the water. Boil 5-10+ minutes, depending on amount and type of pasta; until not-quite tender. Hints: The water should be salty enough that you can actually taste the salt; and the more water in the pot the better, but try not to get it more than 3/4 the way up the side of the pot, to help prevent boil-over.

Boil a big pot of salted water (I also add a Knorr italian cube)
Add pasta keep a rolling boil. Depends on Pasta. Fresh stuff cooks quicker. Usually about 10-12 mins. Dont overcook it. It should be al dente(not mushy). Drain the water. Thats it.

water in a pan on the hob (high heat) until the water is bubbling. then chuck the pasta in with a bit of salt. boil for about 10 minutes (keeping the bubbles under control). To make sure its ready I usually stick a fork in & get a piece of pasta. Cool it then taste it. If its a little bit hard then keep the pasta in for a bit longer if its soft like its supposed to be then its done.

you shouldn't really admit to not knowing how to cook pasta - but here goes!
Wait for water to boil and add the pasta and some salt if you want - you can also add things like stock cubes or Olive Oil etc..... depends on your taste!!
For Fresh pasta cook for 4-5 mins and dried packet stuff its 10-12.

in boiling water, if your doing a spag boll then add an oxo to the pasta whilst it is in the water, it gives it a nice taste.
I know this sounds daft but if your not sure if the pasta is cooked properly then take a strand and throw it at the wall (preferably a tile) , if it sticks to the wall then it is ready, if it falls straight off then its still raw.

in depends on what kind of pasta ur going to cook. you have to put it in a salted boiling water and check from time to time if it is soft enough for a regular pasta, however, keep in mind not to overcook it.
