have you ever seen a coffee can full of gas get shot with a .223 tracer round. my brother found some tracer rounds for my AR-15. so we decided to shoot the can full of gan. it actually didnt do anything we were disappointed. so we decided to just burn it and then we used some of his gun powder from his reloading kit and filled the can up with that and used electrical tape on it to make it tighter. he shot it and the can blew there was nothing left of it. we also found a couple of pieces of the can in a close by tree and one went in the side of our house. he also got a piece of metal in his leg it wasnt very deep tho so we just taped it up and its all good. has any one ever tried this.

Yeah, when I was young and dumb, I'd try stuff like this. It's a wonder that I, and you, weren't killed. Crap like this is very dangerous. Keep playing around and you are likely to end up with some serious injuries or dead. I am surprised that the can of gas didn't go up. Many years ago a kid in the town of Berg's Mill, Texas shot a five gallon Jerry can that had some gas in it with what was reported to be a tracer round and the can blew up. The bad news was that a piece of the can hit him in the throat and killed him. Quit while you're ahead!!!

Gas is very volatile. You were lucky. I wouldn't try that again. You can put a cigarette out in gas, but a spark hits the fumes and BANG.
Here is a safer trick. Get two empty gallon jugs of milk and fill them with water. Put the cap on one, leave the other open.
Shoot the open one first. A fast round like .223 should pass through without moving the jug. Then shoot the one with the cap on. It will blow apart sending water everywhere. A lot safer than gas.

I guess I don't understand what you are trying to do here since other than ask if any one else was as stupid as you two were, to pull a stunt like this is the first place. You both were da** lucky that one of you got cut and didn't need stitches and a trip to the ER.. or worse. Nothing to be proud or be bragging about.Obviously neither one of you have enough common sense to be responsible enough to be around ANY guns to begin with......Whats next? A pound of Black Powder? I'd be willing to bet cash if your folks had any idea you were going to pull such a stunt,,you would be in major trouble with them and the Police.I wouldn't push it if I were you.You won't get any sympathy from anyone here.......

Your question is about gun safety-apparently you aren't very safe with your gun.

You are lucky you or your brother aren't blind, crippled or dead after doing something so stupid. And then to post it on the internet so everyone can see just how dumb you were to try something like that.

Some of us who own and shoot guns and try our best to assure it is done in a safe and responsible manner, maybe you should leave the weapons alone before you hurt someone else.

Yeah, one time when I was around ten years old my friend decided it would be fun to smash live .22 rounds in between rocks. He ended up with a piece of brass embedded in his leg. We learned about that sort of stupidity at a young age, thank god, and have practiced sound gun and ammo safety ever since.

Has any one ever tried this? Sure! There are lots of incredibly stupid people in the world.

That's the reason why nothing like this ever ends up in the Darwin Awards. Although you're doing your best to ensure that you don't make any babies, what you are doing is so common that it doesn't really attract any attention.

You should THANK the forces that be that you didn't have a Darwin award candidate in the making. Yep, your brother paid the price for stupidity. Just be glad it wasn't worse, cause it could have been.

I think that you are possibly one of the stupidest people that I have ever read about. My question is when the can blew up, did some of the shrapnel come back and hit you in the head. I think it probably did, considering how dumb your actions/question is.

Hey kid, try this one!

Make a small fire, set a full propane tank in front of it but not in it. Now shoot it.

That should teach you a lesson lol
