Not all of them are crazy. Just most of the people on this forum.

People with schitzophrenia (by the way, it's not called that any more) don't get therapy unless they are harming themselves and/or others. Schitzophrenia isn't just "switching personalities"... it's a lot more than just that. It's Bi-Polar, Manic Depression (which is basically the same thing as Bi-Polar, it's one level of it)... It's also different forms of Depression... It's also part of the different "speeds" of people... those who aren't necessarily depressed, but suddenly get HIGH on simple things and run with it.
Belief in things others don't believe in does not warrant therapy unless, like I said above, they are harming themselves and/or others. If they function within society - hold a job, raise a family, etc - then a "good" psychiatrist will not push therapy for that person (a psychiatrist that's a conman will... but not a good one).

Shrinks have been claiming that for yrs. There's a big difference between believing something is real because you're paranoid, mentally ill, etc. & because of faith.
You sit in a chair, lay down in bed, etc. You see it, it looks sturdy so you believe it will hold you. Isn't that faith in what you CAN see? Yet that chair or bed could still collapse. It's appearance can be deceiving. Since it collapsed does it mean it no longer exists?
Faith in God is unlike that chair because even though you can't see Him you KNOW He's there. Not because you see but because you believe and thus when things happen you're not as easily crushed because you know that somehow it will all work out for your good. I call that the power of God, some call it self fulfilling prophecy. But it sures beats always having to endure life w/o hope beyond what you can see or thinking there is nothing after this life, thus all your striving has no value. That could make you schitzo.

They already do.
In fact, to quote your own example, religious obsession is considered to be a signature warning mark of schizophrenia.
Because religion is an accepted ideology within our society and is ingrained in our social hierarchies and our values, morals and norms, and seeing as how the majority of people are religious, it cannot possibly be classified as deviant or abnormal behaviour, and this is the grounding of the classificaton of mental illness in all society - we can only judge someone's sanity by comparing it to our own view of what charecteristics a 'sane' person should have.
Religion becomes classed as a mental illness where it reaches a state of extremism, almost as though there is an obsessive-compulsive urge to dedicate everything to it, and this is done in a way that is detrimental to either the individual or society as a whole, such as in the case of Muslim terrorists and some Christian sects. It's extremely noticable in schizophrenics who may go from being outgoing and bubby to simply being afraid to leave the house and spending 18hrs a day reading the Bible.

Again, why in the world do you care about what other people believe or don't believe in? Geez, can't you put that extra energy to some good use? Help feed the homeless, adopt a foreign kid in need, help build a animal shelter, get out there and do some good instead of worrying about what other people are thinking.

Never. They're only crazy in your opinion. Most religious people who have been to psychiatrists, or in therapy, or to psychologists, were found to have extremely sound minds.

People who don't open umbrellas indoors for fear of bad things happening are exactly the same type of irrational.
Fortunately, they don't fight each other or damn me to hell because of their beliefs.
Religious people can say with a straight face that a mentally ill person (i.e autism, schizophrenia etc) is possessed by a 'demon' or any other 'supernatural' thing. This makes me so *mad* at the wilful stupidity still exhibited today, that I can't even describe it...
UPDATE:
Additionally, people like 'wrecker' below are still exhibiting the hateful and twisted mindset of Hitler...and they consider themselves 'sane' and the rest of the world to be 'crazy'.
I'm gay, so 'wrecker' (how aptly named), you so much as step near me with your shackles or stones and hateful propaganda...you lay one finger on me... and I'll re-arrange your thinking, permanently.

actually Dr. Michael Savage has it right when he says, "Liberalism is a mental disorder."
did you know that homosexuals used to be locked away in the insane asylums?
Now that the degenerates of the world are trying to be always on center stage in society, it is quite apparent that the patients have taken over the asylum.
That is where this world is headed: on a CRASH course... right on track to MEET their MAKER - head on!!!
"And He will bring to ruin those who are ruining the earth."
No, not polluting the earth; rather, "ruining" the earth with their wicked immorality and their decrepit mentalities.
