Well. I'm just going to be dumb for a sec.
I believe in having a soul, but I couldn't tell you how or why it works.
It is just something that 'is'. That's the best way I can explain it because that's the best way I understand it myself.
I suppose I don't have to know 'why' something is to believe in it. But that's just me. lol
Hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck! :)

Souls are created by The Gods to live inside a body and is essentially that person's life force. Upon death it goes to the Afterlife before going onto to be reborn in a new body. Souls are individuals that cannot exist independently from the body in this realm. So souls cannot simply leave a body if they are not happy within that body, for example, they must wait until that body has expired. Souls are the true essense of people.

First of all, what is a soul?
The bible tells us that we are all souls, that is living breathing people. Therefore when we die the soul dies with us. (Ezekiel 18 v 4)
So the soul works because of the breath within us and it acts the way it does because we are all sinners.

There is no question of not believing soul. Soul is everything in you. The body is just a medium through which the soul make us to work. Not the reverse.

your soul is who you are...
nothing makes it work. it just is...
since your soul is you it acts the way it does because that's who you are.

"For the soul of the creature is in it's blood."
It is the life of the creature in question. Blood is unique to each individual creature, and cannot be transmitted into another without serious medical difficulties resulting. "And God breathed into man the breath of life, and man came to be a living soul." Adam has passed that life source on to his progeny, and it continues to be passed on to succeeding generations.

Your soul is your eternal essence. It is the part of God that has flown off as a spark to experience itself.
It doesn't need a body to survive, but some souls choose to incarnate for whatever reason (that would be all of us).
It acts the way it does, because it is exploring life and creating itself anew over and over.

Okay, there's so much we don't know about the brain. I think it's a combination of neurotransmitters and a subconscious understanding of the universe. Hence the term "soul-searching". I think everyone has the capacity to fully understand complex processes that make up the world, but the brain hasn't evolved enough to access that information. Soul = connectivity.

A soul is your mind. The simplist way to put it. Its your heart. Your spirit. What make you, you. A soul needs a body and/or heaven to surivive. Because a soul is what makes you who you are. Cannot havee a body without a soul and a soul without a body/heaven.

The soul is your vital organs. The spirit what gives them life. The spirit is the breath of God living inside you that returns to Him upon death.
According to the Bible they are so closely linked only God can sever them.
