I'm very sorry to hear that you can't emigrate to Australia. My husband was English and was able to emigrate due to our marriage (I am Australian). We have since left Australia and I am enjoying life in France. As a person who has spent all of my life in Australia, I can say that life in Australia is totally over-rated. People say that they want the lovely weather, but it is normally so hot that you can't walk out your front door without being knocked over by the heat. You also don't get to experience seasons (if you go near Queensland), you can't water your lawn so if you enjoy gardening then that is out. Also, unless you are a keen sportsman, there is not really a great deal of things to do.
If you are a UK citizen, you have options like Spain or France, where, in my personal opinion, the quality of life can be quite exceptional. You could always move into the European continent and enjoy six month holidays in Australia.
If you are still dead keen on moving to Australia, I believe that you can enter without qualifications if you have enough cash. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that it was about £300,000.
Also, if you have more family in Australia than in the country where you live, you can get in on that reason.
I'm very sorry that your dream has been shattered, but as an Australian, I must say that there are many beautiful places in Europe, if you go to the more rural areas, that, in my opinion, have a greater standard of lifestyle. Don't be misled by the hype that is placed around life in Australia.

No it's not fair, but it's all about the demand for certain positions, and unfortunatley there are ALOT of graphics designer in Aus.
As for hairdressing- well on average it is the lowest wage in Aus, thus no-oone wants to get into it and we need to recruit from overseas.

Life ain't fair. These countries will only take you if they need your skills. Everyone needs hairdressers. All the graphics designers out there have degrees so you'd be out of work.
You could always get yourself a degree - or learn hairdressing.

Not at all fair. But what can we do? For everything in this World, there are rules & regulations for filtering.
Ex: Why do you need 5.7" inches height for Indian Army? Do you think a 5.5" strong and wise man can't do what a thin and weak 6 ft person can do?

That seems very unfair, I thought they were crying out for computer experts too, 20 years experience is a hell of lot of time at a computer and if they can't see that then god help them.
