Honestly, I can't really explain this. However, I have had memories of being an animal and an alien. I'm not sure how accurate they are, but they're pretty vivid. So I think I could say, at least from conjecture, that there are people who have reincarnated who have not necessarily been human in the course of Earth's history. You can't rule out the possibility that the universe doesn't work the way we think it does. Our perceptions are rather limited. There may even be parallel dimensions where more people exist. Who knows?

I have believed in spirits and spirit communication for years ...
through personal experiences
however in studying reincarnation and the many cases of past lives... I had to rethink my own beliefs
it has been explained to me and I am good with the idea
that we do not all reincarnate ... some of us may wish to remain in spirit and some of us may feel the need to return to this life
and also that as much as there are many old souls going through the reincarnation process ... there are new souls being born

Call reincarnation whatever you want to call it, but it's how life in the Cosmos works.

How narrow a mind the Earthling must have to presume that lifetimes can happen only in this dimension.

There is reincarnation at the time of judgement but the body flesh will not be reincarnated. It is your soul to be reincarnated and be judged according to your own doings while still living on earth. It is not your body flesh that will go to heaven but your living soul and you will forget everything what you have done in earth. You will not come to know your relatives, your friends, your brothers and sisters, your mother and your father in earth. Everybody in Heaven are your brothers and sisters and there is no fighting with each other in Heav en. No work, no need to eat and everything will be under the care of the power of God. The earth will vanish and evertything in earth will vanish. So no more earth,no more world but paradise in Heaven.

oh for goodness sakes, come on, have a little creativity.

why would there not be able to be new souls created? why would there be some set number that never changed?

why would there only be this world? why would other races on other worlds in this universe not be able to inter-incarnate? what about other dimensions, why not there?

of course, there IS also the point of inter-species incarnating on this world and plane, why not?

your whole issue with it is based on false assumptions.

I don't believe in reincarnation either, but are you implying that the concept of heaven and hell is less ridiculous?
edit- Oh, I just thought you were some Christian bashing reincarnation.

You dont have to apply logic to spiritual matters - logic and reason have no affinity with spirit or imagination.Right vs Left.

New souls I imagine must be born out al the time, some souls are older than others.

Not all souls choose to be reborn at the same time~ some spend more time in the summerlands than others. so at different times there will be more souls on earth than other times.
