Well, I don't beleive in Heaven. What I do beleive in is that animals have instinct (DOH!) and can feel things, i.e. pain, fear, joy, loyalty, etc. And I treat them according to that.

There are no scriptures that mention animals having souls or being in heaven. There are passages about animals being able to be influenced by God, such as the flying serpents that bit the Israelites in punishment, Balaam's dumb @$$ rebuking the prophet gone mad, and during the millenium the wolf lying down with the lamb. This indicates to me at least the possibility of animals being in heaven... just a part of the joy in heaven. Who knows, perhaps I can have a pet flying jackalope or duck billed platypus.
As for having spirits or souls, I don't think so... otherwise we would be committing murder everytime we slew a cow or chicken or fly.
Animals can have intelligence, even cruelty. I've seen documentaries of Orcas playing volleyball with baby seals, or lions scaring off animals from the only water hole just for meanness sake.

There are spirits everywhere, not just in heaven if there is a heaven that is.

God created man in his image. Not to say God looks like a man, but that God is a rational spirit. Humans too have rational spirits, we make decisions on right and wrong. You can teach a pet to do tricks but it will never understand them. I'm sorry their souls are not rational, they do not have the gift of thought. There are no pet souls in heaven.

I am not a devout churchgoer or Bible reader, but I do consider myself a Christian, and I do believe in Heaven. Although I do not ever remember it being mentioned in the bible about animals having souls and being able to go to Heaven, if Heaven is as wonderful a place as I think it will be, then animals will definitely be there too.

LOL... You really shouldn't have included atheists there. As an atheist, I can tell you any atheist that believes that there is a heaven is a phony. The existence of heaven relies on an existence of a deity. The exact opposite of the entire concept of atheism.
Anyways, the short answer to your question: No. Because there is no heaven.

Yes I do believe that the spirits of pets reside in heaven as well. I am looking foward to all my pets that I have lost in my life to be there with me.

I'm an atheist and I do not have belief in heaven or afterlife, that said I did have a very special cat who died 15years ago and she still visits me in my dreams. Usually if I'm in a dangerous situation in the dream Pussah comes to me...still it's just dreaming, I'm always pleased to see her anyway.
