Believe it or not Islam is translated to peace......so we are supposed 2 be at peace with others....to be humble...and to a countries rules etc.....the only way a muslim is to break a peace is when hell freezes over....but of course...if attacked they have the lisence to kill otherwise its prudent we don't break the peace....becasue as we believe Allah LOATHES people who break the peace or rather cause chaos, trouble etc......
As to peace-making....WE were supposed to be in the fore front of it...making peace between other factions...Ironic isn't it....as to making peace with Islams 'enemies' as soon as the enemy lays down arms....and evens hints at peace.....we are supposed to embrace it full-heartdly.....you CAN neogitate a bit...but if the 'enemy' dosen't attack you.....we cannot do anything....:D

First of all 'The Holy Koran' should be religiously followed, its true meaning should be properly and wisely understood. Allah never ordained his rasool to take up sword to spread the message of the 'Holy Koran' but the 'Holy Koran' was revealed to Mohammad through which he could create an exemplary social order based upon justice, equality and righteousness. Mohammad was asked to take up the sword to defend this system that he established at 'Medina' and take over the control of Kaaba at Mecca. Today we find that the true meaning of the 'Holy Koran' is being misinterpreted by those who swear to understand it and profess eimaan but keep fighting and killing for all the wrong causes. If only the meaning of the 'Holy Koran' is wisely understood by the adherents of Islam, there can be a lasting peace in the world.

Well, that in it self is a deep question. Now depends on what i am following. You see Islam and so called Muslims are two different entites! Here is Islam,
The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of self.
The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr.
The creation is as God's family; for its sustenance is from Him: therefore the most beloved unto God is the person who doeth good to God's family.
Guard yourselves from six things, and I am your security for paradise. When you speak, speak the truth; perform when you promise; discharge your trust; be chaste in thought and action; and withold your hand from striking, from taking that which is unlawful, and bad.
You want to love God, Love thy creation first!
NOW When it comes to so called Muslims depends on what they are following. If they following their Ego approach will be quite voilent but if they are following Allah and Islam, then peace becomes foremost priority because everything should be considered God's creation and must not be harmed unless in self defece and 9.11 was not self defece, it was out right terrorism!

Islam the religion of Peace.
To have peace you have to first submit to your lord. knowing that your God is One and that he has no partners, no sons no daughters. He has no share in divinity, That all creation needs him and he needs no one. God is our creator so he is the only one that can guide us. He sent messengers to each nation with the same message or with good tidings of Peace. We have to follow his commands and laws that pertains to every aspect of life. To not steal, murder with no right to give charity to treat women with respect, honor our Mother, to feed the poor, not to show arrogance, to not speak badly about people or behind there back, to show mercy. Alot of things are basically common sense to some who are God conscious. He also tell us that the accursed Satan is an open enemy to us and not to follow his whispers because he will lead us astray and into the Hell fire which is truth. It is so much I can talk about but Iam trying to get to the point. The opposite of peace is chaos . Allah (GOD) tells us that prophet Muhammad is the best example for us, To do as he did. To pray as he did. to adopt his characteristics and his ways in dealing with people. Great English scholars had even mentioned in their works that if mankind adopted his way of thinking the world will be better off. We have the Hadiths( narrations of is life) to help us through this path of greatness.
All I can say is God makes it clear to us in the Quran the way of peace all around the board.

Jewish Ruling concerning Islam :
[36] Maimonides, Responsa, 448
The Muslims [Ishmaelim] are not in any way idolators. [Idolatry] has already been removed from their mouths and their hearts, and they unify G-d in the appropriate manner without any admixture [of idolatrous beliefs].

1-----After Abraham had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as HIS WIFE. -- GENESIS 16:3
2------So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of HIS SON, whom Hagar bore, ISHMAEL. - GENESIS 16:15
In The Interpreters Bible, we read the following commentary on Deutronomy 21:15-17 :
“However, the law of the first born had ancient sanction, and so long as it was accepted justice demanded that mere favoritism not be allowed to deprive the eldest son of his rights.” (Vol 2 p. 461 Emphasis added)
The fallacy of Ishmael’s inferior status owing to his mother’s “inferior” social status is not only contrary to the Judaic Law (e.g. Deut. 21:15-17) , it is contrary to moral , humanitarian and universal nature of God’s revelation cherished by any believer in Him.
