Read a book, have a bath, do some deep breathing (inhale while gently pushing stomach out and exhale slowly), think of something you don't wanna do, write down what's on your mind, only be awake during the day so you can get a routine of sleeping at night, keep trying but get up every 1/2 hr to do something, listen to some soothing music, drink chammomile tea, don't watch tv or a bright computer screen, go for a walk...

I just count down from 100, picturing a clock on a wall(usually the one at the dmv for some reason) and nothing else. Sometimes I get all the way to 0, but I find I am much more calm, and start counting down from 100 again and usually fall asleep when I get to 50 or so.

LOL - I pulled an all-nighter and still up at 7:30 am. This happens a couple of times a month. I just flow with it now. No more fighting with myself that I must go to sleep. This way, I am awake, yes, but I remain in a calm and restful state.

I have the same problem, often. I usually lay there and try to relax and get my mind to settle, but it doesn't work. So...I get on the computer and look at craigslist.org and search through hundreds of add listings...just to make myself bored and sleepy...for me this works because I like second hand stuff. OR I take a melatonin pill which is a natural herb and wont hurt me at all. Hope it helps...

LOL did you even go to sleep?? I usually can't go to sleep to begin with... then I fully wake up..and think that I had been sleeping for a couple hours ...come to find out.. half an hour had gone by!! LOL Usually get out of bed, sit out on the porch and just listen to the outside noises. Usually relaxes me enough to be able to go back to bed and sleep!

:))

I do! Thats why I am answering your question now, instead of sleeping.

I relax this way and it helps my very active mind relax so that I can clear all the thoughts out of my head and go to sleep.

Good Night!

Sometimes I clean around the house (dust, clean toilets, sinks, sweep floors, do dishes). And sometimes this helps, sometimes not.

Othertimes, a hot cup of cocoa or tea helps.
