Oh man, you are going to have a read creditability problem with police, I will just tell ya up front. The other person will say the stero system and cds belonged to them and they took them while you were in jail, and the police are more likely to believe them, since you were in fact, in jail. Unless you have some dang good proof of owner ship, I'd probably suggest taking the loss - because you really don't want to call more police attention to yourself at this point.

File a police report on the theft and have that person listed as the suspect. You'll need the report for your insurance anyway.
