Bought one a few months ago and I know this is the first year with this transmission. Makes me a little nervous!

From 2003 that transmission has been used in the Murano is just about the most reliable Transmission Nissan Has. Now almost all of product line has CVT's Even Dodge Buy's them for use in the Caliber. There is about 1/3 the moving parts what could be wrong with that. Just use green Nissan CVT fluid only.

The idea of CVT isnt new but the Nissans transmission is. They arent going to last long, Nissan has had problems with their overall durability. The belts get warn and stretched and messed up and fail much sooner than a normal transmission does.

actually the CVT has been around longer then you think. They introduced the CVT in 1992. The CVT 07 is the third generation thats come out so all of the kinks should be worked out...in fact heres an article that might ease your mind http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/10/05/024153.html
