My friend met this guy online. She brags that he is rich and comes from a rich family and he was going to law school and all this BS. At first all of us were happy for her! . Well, Its been 10 years and they haven't met yet and she still keeps talking like he is this wonderful man and how he just loves her and there having this big huge wedding.. and I just blew up.. I was like YOU HAVEN'T EVEN MET HIM.. AND ITS BEEN 10 YEARS!! IF HE IS SO RICH WHY CANT HE FLY TO SEE YOU, OR HE FLY'S YOU TO LA TO SEE HIM..I just got tired of the same old story for 10 years. Everyone is laughing at her and just making fun of her. I told her she was making an *** out of herself and she was just like a deer in headlights.. OMG.. I told her that she was stupid to believe that this guy was for real. Every time they have a weekend to see each other he makes up an excuses. The best one was that his mother died and he cant go to Harvard anymore cause he wants to be near his family, But yet if someone loves you that much wouldn't you think she would get her fat *** on a plane and go see him or him want her to be there. but oh nooooo. I do know he is real cause i have talked to him on the phone! .. So, if im wrong for blowing up and telling her I cant be hear another word about his guy who is from planet don't exist. I will apologize to her. Doest anyone out there belives this! Even her own mother was like give it a rest!

You are in the clear. He is either married and having fun(which is the likely story), or a total tech loser that lives in his parent's basement and has no life outside of the cyber world. Either way your friend should totally get a grip on reality. 10 Years? I can't make real life relationships last 10 months... Blowing up was natural reaction to ten years of silliness. Now that you got it out.. make sure that when you talk to her about it you say exactly what it is you are trying to say. Human nature says she will still only listen to what she wants. Try setting her up with some guys you know on a "group" outing. She has to see that there is more out there or she is never gonna pull away and let go. Good luck

I probably would have done the same thing. She needs to get a grip on reality. I just can't understand how you can date someone for 10 years and just never meet...it doesn't make sense, and it doesn't add up. Your friend is more than likely making a very huge mistake for wasting all of those years on this guy, and she should put an end to it ASAP!
However, I would probably apologize to her for being so brutally honest...it could have been done in a better way, but I understand that when you are at a point of frustration and anger with your friends and loved ones, it's hard to stay quiet. She needed to hear it, though.

10 years... wow... it sounds like this girl needs some help.

I would guess that she realizes it's a fairy-tale and she just doesn't want to give up on the fantasy. If she doesn't meet him she can't say for sure that's it not real.

If I were you I would just tell her that I don't want to hear about him anymore. Tell her until she meets him you don't want to hear anymore because you feel like you're being played, having to hear about this mystery guy for TEN years.

Or you could stick your nose in and offer to take her to him and be relentless with it... I wouldn't though. This guy will get pissed and someone who's been doing this for 10 years, who knows what he's capable of.

I think the guy has been leading her on, but you could have found a gentler way to tell her.

How did you take all of that for nine years?

I would have been like that to him to.
