I have a job interview for a taxi dispatcher position tomorrow, and I just know that the guy is going to ask me the dreaded "What are your weaknesses" question. I have been searching the bloody internet for an hour trying to find a good answer to this question but all I'm getting is "turn the weakness into a positive" I'm like, uhh duuh. That's obvious... but I need an answer!!!
CALLING ALL ANSWERERS... I need help!!
Thanks sooooo much!!

Turn it into a positive = "My weakness is that I'm a perfectionist" etc...

Or the answer I use: "I am always trying to identify and improve on any weaknesses I may have so I am unaware of any I may have at this point because if I knew of any I would work to improve them until I had turned them into a strength." ....
It's a little long, repetitive and rambly because I'm tired but you can reword it until it sounds pretty.

This is question is asked by all good recruiters. It is not so much to find an excuse for throwing you out, as to find whether you have the ability to take stock of your personality, and whether you make efforts to overcome your weaknesses.

When I faced my first interview, I had to answer this. I said,"as of now, my first weakness is that I haven't yet learnt how to assess myself . I am learning how to do this. Meanwhile the one thing that bothers me more often is my tendency to hurry up with the things in hand. I know that neither worry nor hurry helps in getting good work done. So , working on it". I was selected. Not only that, I topped the list.
I suggest that you do a little introspection and see if there is an area of your personality you would like to improve. If it is something that will affect your performance in the new job, phrase it this way: " Iam aware that I have to improve upon.......With a little Guidance from my seniors on the job, I am sure,I should be able to get over this."Such honest answers are always accepted and the job normally offered , except where the recruiter is new and has wrong notions about ideal candidates. Most peopke are looking for viable team members and not some one to head the Company.

Pick your weakness. :) That makes it easier to turn into a positive.

What is your weakness? " Oh, I'm just too organized. I really like having the files organized alphabetically so anyone can walk into the office and find something quickly."

What is your weakness? "I'm just too friendly. I like to help people."

What is your weakness? "I forget to go to lunch. I get so involved in what I'm doing that I lose track of time."

Do you get the idea? Your have a weakness, but it isn't a negative thing. It generates something good. Oh, and it has to be real. If you actually throw everything in a pile on the corner of the desk, don't do the alphabetical order weakness.

After all, this is a job interview. This isn't the time to say, "My weakness is for guys who are 6'4" with Texas drawls, broad shoulders, and big blue eyes." They don't want to know that.

Tell Him, "Wow, that's a great question...I've never really thought about that......probably 'cause I'm so positive and problem-solving, I dont really focus on weaknesses. I'll tell you what though, you have to promise me that after I work here for awhile and you've had time to observe me, If you notice any weknesses, that you'll tell me, Ok. Then, I can be sure to correct them. "
Yes, this sounds very confident and presumptuous, but I truly belive that you walk into a job interview as though you have arrived to claim your job and that it should already be mutually understood that the job belongs to you, you're merely there to discuss the particulars. Vary your degree of ********* depending on the vibes you're getting from interviewer. Cab Dispatcher...not too corporate, should hopefully be somewhat casual, not stuffy conversation. Let us know WHEN you get it..Good Luck!

Sometimes I tend to be too helpful, so I'm careful to let others have the opportunity to problem solve a little before offering aid (dead serious expression).
I like talking, so selecting dispatch work will be very fulfilling (big smile).

Visualize yourself (ahead of time) having a poised, confident interview, with rich answers coming forth effortlessly.
You can do it! Best wishes.

Use humor: "What is your weakness?"
Answer: "ICE CREAM! It just calls my name!" Use something silly yet appropriate.
