Jesus was trying to, and succeeded in starting a cult that has been responsible for 2, 000 odd years of hatred, violence and death in his name.

The poor thief was probably just trying to feed his starving children.

Who deserved it more?

They should have put his body through a mincer!!!
"Resurrect THAT!"

well, the answer is easy, christus jesus was seen and his case examined by potius pilatus, the roman governor,- and he could find no wrong in him, he had not committted any crime, he was innocent,- to kill an innocent person is probably one of the worst things ever to happen in history, that is why pontius pilatus asked for the basin with water brought to him, when the raving crowd asked for barabas, the murderer to be relieved and Jesus killed,- pontius pilatus was later relieved from his position in palaestine, he committed suicide near vienna during one of the numerours expeditions of the Roman empire at the time, he had enough, the blood of an innocent man was on his hands, the washing exercise did not help, he was lacking in civil courage, that is, what killed him, you must understand, that the idea of honour was paramount in the Roman army,- as it was in the German Wehrmacht, where I was an officer; an order had to be executed, regardless of the consequences.
and when ruthless criminals got control of the totally faithfull wehrmacht, the disaster started to evolve. the codex of honour prevented them to disobey.
but there were citizens, who gve their live in my home town, frankfurt/main, who would not go along with the nazi-terror,
unfortunately, they have not been recogniszed
Jesus was killed for political reasons, not for criminal activity, and that is, what made him a hero of the absurd
in those days, when Jesus lived, things were very absurd
and I don't think a thief is worthy of worship-
he is just a thief, probably out of poverty
however, Christus Jesus has another dignity
and don't you forget
he said upon them
heute noch werdet ihr mit mir im paradiese sein
today, you will be in paradise with me
just refrain from insulting Christus Jesus, our Lord
we owe him so much
the command for tolerance and forgiveness
was it not him who said, if your one cheek is hit,
just show the other one as well?
is it not him, who rescued the woman, about to be stoned,
when he said onto the righteous hypocrites:
whoever of you is without guilt, throw the first stone
and they went away and he guarded her?
he does not deserve to be put on the same level as petty thiefs, he was the one who felt, that something had to be done about the injustice in this world

perhaps you want to read the new testament before you make comments like this about Christus Jesus
it is inappropiate
would you yourself have the courage to do what he did
I don't think so

No one is saved by the life of Christ but through the death of Christ. John 3:14-18.
It was part of God's eternal purpose. Hebrews 10:7.
It was necessary to fulfill Old Testament prophecies. Isaiah 53:5.
It was necessary to provide salvation for man. Ephesians 1:7.
The death of Christ was for others. He died as a substitute. I Corinthians 15:3.
The death of Christ was sufficient. It completely meets God's claims because Christ endured and exhausted the judgment of God against sin. It completely meets man's need because it was the death of an Infinite Person and therefore its value is infinite.

Jesus is sinless, innocent, and he is true man and true God.

The thief was a sinner, he was guilty, and he was just a man.

Jesus death meant the end of satan's evil dominion over the earth, as no one, not even the devil, had the right to take the life of a sinless man, let alone the only begotten son of God ... and the jews and the romans were acting as satan's minions when they crucified Christ.

The thief's death was a simple execution, and served no particular purpose.

the thief committed a crime- what did Jesus do? Sacrifice Himself for our sin, so that we can get what we don't deserve, a personal relationship with God, eternal life, and forgiveness of sins. The one thief admitted He did wrong, and asked Jesus to forgive, and He did- however the one worthy of our worship is Jesus, the one who died in my place and rose from the dead.

Jesus was accused of blasphemy by the Jewish high court of the time. The thief deserved his punishment as he said, but Jesus did not. Jesus had to die in the flesh to fulfill the prophecies and to redeem man of sin. The difference being Jesus was raised from death. In his death he bought mankind so all that should believe in him will be saved.

Worse? The thief (according to the myth in the Bible) just went "wherever" he deserved (?) after dying, Jesus got to rule the universe! Would you sign up for that? A few hours of pain (if you decided to allow yourself to feel pain, God incarnate, remember) and then you rule everything for all eternity? I don't see where the sacrifice is here?

Jesus never existed, though.

He certainly did. It went from an eternal death sentence to a 'life sentence.' I guess that made him the first 'Born again' Chrstian, didn't it. Boy, look how easy THAT was. All the guy did was recognize the diety in Christ and he was going to heaven...makes you wonder what is stopping others, doesn't it?

Jesus was a good man, who didn't do anything wrong.

The incident (crucifixion) shows us that justice can sometimes be "truly" blind.

You seem to think a murderer and a just man deserve the same kind of treatment.
