My parental units are claiming that I'm too skinny and I need to gain weight. I'm not sure how much I way. But I'm almost 6 feet tall. I am skinny but I'm naturally skinny. I eat more than the average person but I'm in a size 0 (dont freak out.. everyone deos). I don't look unhealthy. I'm just tiny. Yes you can see my back bone. But it's not like my veins stick out in my arm or anything. I've always been happy with the way I look until now that they're telling me I'm too skinny. Everyone tells me I'm too skinny. Accuses me of having an eating disorder (and I DO NOT!) but now that my parents are wanting my to gain weight I'm starting to think that I am too skinny. Am I?

It is so frustrating when people assume you have an eating disorder just because you're skinny. Accusing someone of having such a serious and sad disease is horrendously insulting. They may think they're just looking out for you, but it's so rude and misinformed.

At 6 feet tall and a size 0 (how the hell do you find pants to fit you?!) you are certainly thin, but if you've always been like that, then there may be nothing wrong with you. Some people are just naturally very thin. However, I'd check with your doctor to see what he or she thinks. A doctor might have some suggestions to help you gain a little weight, or he might tell you you're perfectly fine.

Don't let what everyone is saying affect how you see your body. It sounds like you were satisfied with yourself until you listened to them. Keep being happy with your body! Hardly anyone is, and it's sad.

Don't worry at all! I'm pretty tall and have always been on the skinny side. Since I was a teenager people have always been saying how I must be an anorexic or bulimic. It really annoyed me because I ate more than anyone in my whole family. My parents still give me grief about how I'm wasting away but I feel healthy and look healthy. Tall people ARE naturally skinny usually anyway. Dont worry about what other people say, if you are happy the way you are that's all that matters.

The best thing to do is to go to your family doctor and have a physical. If everything checks out and is normal and you are not anemic or malnurished or anything, then it is true, you may be one of those people who just have an extremely high metabolism and burn calories very quickly and have to ingest a lot of calories to put on weight. Try to add some nutritional drinks to your diet like ensure or something like that to give you some added calories and nutrients. But if all goes well with you doctor and he sees no problems then just enjoy being one of those lucky few who can eat all they want and never get overweight! You just want to make sure that it is not because of some health problem that you need to address and that could be harmful to your health.
You may want to consider a career as a model. If you are tall and thin it would be a great job and it pays well too!
Good Luck and Be Happy with yourself and take care and God Bless!

It is mother nature and it is quite normal for some people to be skinny like this. I have friends, they eat a healthy diet and eat at least 5 times a day and they are really skinny. I envy them. One thing , that is so very true is" The more small meals you eat, the more calories your burn". That's where it's actually coming from. As long as you eat a healthy diet, you are fine. The more often you eat during the day (which is healthy) the more calories you burn.

Well, lucky you. It sounds like you just have a fast metabolism to me. I am 5'8" and 135 lbs. and I have to struggle to be this way. In my teens I weighed 190. When I was younger my parents wanted me to lose weight. They criticized me all the time. I envy you, I wish I could eat more than the average person and be a size 0. Count your blessings, you are just naturally thin and lucky as all get out.

I'm not sure.
Too skinny would mean you are unhealthy, and probably have some eating disorder. But, if you're just skinny and eat a good amount, you could just have a really fast metabolism.
I have a really fast metabolism, I eat like crazy! Heehee!
I'm Size 0 as well, but I'm only 5'4"

Good Luck!

No, don't worry about it, there is only one person who should care what you look like, that is yourself. If you are ok with the way you look then don't change anything. You will gain weight when you get older, everyone does, there is no sense in making yourself gain weight when you dont need to. I am 6'4" and a 6ft woman would be awesome, don't get me wrong small women are great too, but I like the fact that i could look you in the eyes.

Truthfully, you do sound to be very thin. It's hard to tell without seeing you or knowing your exact weight. My best advice? See a doctor and make sure everything is ok. You could have Hyperthyroidism or some other condition that causes you to be too thin. Or.. You could be the right weight after all, and then you can tell your parents and everyone else that the doc said you're a healthy weight.

=)

I am 6"1. I weigh 72kg. And I have a very fast metabolism. The best thing for you to do, is to try using Weight Gainers from the Supplement Store. This is what body builders use. They work pretty fast too.

i know how you feel. i have the same problem. try telling the people who tell you that you have an eating disorder that they're just jealous (don't try that one on the parents). that might even be the real reason. your 'thinness' probably has a lot to do with your genes if you really do eat a lot. but it might be some medical problem. check that you're ok with the doc first.
